Psyringe: It depends, there's a huge variety in the quality of RPGMaker games. They make it comparatively easy to write a game, so (obviously) many games are just some half-baked ideas thrown together with little effort. On the other hand, RPGMaker allows innovative people with excellent writing to focus on the things they are good at, which sometimes produces rare gems of the genre. For example, I've rarely seen sexual topics addressed with such good writing as in "Embric of Wulfhammer Castle", which also has a very innovative way of providing multiple endings. It beats the "Larry" games by a landslide. And it's even available for free.

I can't speak for "Manor of the Damned" though.

AFnord: All I've heard about Embric of Wulfhammer Castle was that it had uncensored lesbian sex scenes... But if it is more mature about the topic than most people make it sound, then I might give it a try.

And I do understand that RPG-maker is just a tool, like any other, and that it in the end is up to the makers of the game to make something interesting, and that you can't blame a bad game on RPG-maker itself, it is just that the market is flooded with these half-baked games, many of which seem to be able to escape bad review scores for some strange reason, so looking at reviews for these types of games is just hopeless (case in point: Laxius Force, which 3.9 (over 4 when it was added to the bundle) on gamer's gate, and the reviews of it that I was able to find gave it 84% and 90% respectively).
Then again, To the Moon was an RPG-maker game, and that one was excellent.
they also have a demo, if you want to try it:

I haven't tried it myself yet, so I do not know much about it

Thanks for the link, but I think I'll buy the bundle anyway, for Blindside & Anna, so I might as well give that game a try once I have the full version.

exactly my thinking also, and the reason I had not tried the demo yet.
Rijn the Spectre (aka Manor of the Damned) was in a previous bundle, if I recall correctly. Cryostasis has been in bundles before.

If anything, Blindside is the game that really interests me here. Is it any good?

(In before someone starts cracking jokes about how shit the graphics are).

Manor of the Damned was in the first Indie Gala Mobile bundle. Cryostasis was in the GamrsGate Complete 1C Collection, which was around $20 a while back, but I don't think it's been in any indie bundles.
For those curious, Manor of the Damned is a bit of a mixed bag. The one really weird aspect of the game is that it takes itself extremely seriously, which is a bit unexpected for a game with a full title of "Rjin the Specpyre in... Manor of the Damned!" It tries to create this huge sweeping Legacy of Kain style mythology without a drop of irony or tongue in cheek, but it definitely doesn't have the quality to pull it off. I mean, I personally can't take the idea of a "half vampyre half spectre" seriously, but the game expects me to find them terrifying and majestic. It comes across as slightly overwrought fanfic, like someone thought of a specpyre and hasn't realized how silly the idea is yet.

As for the quality of the gameplay, it mostly plays like a mediocre Zelda. Combat isn't terribly satisfying, and the dungeon isn't particularly well balanced or designed. Enjoy the Lost Woods mechanic? I hope so, because you'll see it a lot.

Anyway, it's not the worst indie game out there, but I certainly wouldn't take the time to play it over something better.

Blindside sounds damn interesting. Is it any good? Project more than a game, that makes you feel like a blind person seems damn interesting. As a curiosity, interesting experiment, not as a game.

Bought that bundle just for that. Anna, Post Mortem and that another old school Zelda clone are fine too.

Interesting. :) From the (full) name of the game, I would have expected a satire, or a comedy. :)

Ah what a shame. Thanks for the info though. And yes, with that name one would expect it to be a satire, not a serious game.

Exactly. It almost feels like Cthulhu Saves the World but entirely straight faced. I was expecting a comedy as well, but it definitely isn't.

spoderman: I'd bet Cryostasis will have a DRM-free download and Steam key in the new bundle.
It would seem that you have lost a bet ... though I would feel happier if you hadn't.

Same... there are plenty of games in this bundle that have already been released DRM-free in various places (including GOG).

From a business point of view I think it would benefit GOG to supply keys for bundles because it results in people making an account. Once they've got a game here they're far more likely to buy further games.

Maybe they are testing exactly this with IndieGameStand. ;)

And I agree. As soon as a game appears in a bundle, it's probably dead for regular sales for several months anyway. So why not participate in the bundle and lure some new people to the site in the process.

Of course, it's not alone GOG's decision to supply keys for a bundle. :)

True, but I get the impression that a lot of developers and publishers aren't aware they can include GOG keys.

Well, that sucks. I guess they could always add it later like they're trying to do for Stranger's Wrath if people ask for it though.
