Heh. Smart move putting Half-Minute Hero in this bundle considering the sequel was recently confirmed for release on Steam.

Impaler26: Same here. I would prefer if Groupees would release game only bundles in the future.
Pha, ignorants! How often do you get the chance to get Japanese Soul/R&B music in a bundle? Thought about buying it just for that EP. :)

*lol*

I actually like Japanese music, there are a few great japanese Rock- and Metal bands like Onmyouza, Loudness, High and Mighty Color etc. I also like J-Pop (mostly anime soundtracks).

But i really HATE Soul/R&B music (or however it's called) so this lousy album would be reason enough to not buy the bundle for me if i wasn't interested in Gun Metal and the bonus games. :P

But to each his own. :)

nightrunner227: Or a result of everyone giving them so much shit for it. Yeah, they're extremely slow about getting the files back up, but why would they bother offering future drm-free builds if people are just going to bitch when they realize too late that they should back up anything they purchase digitally?
Except that it's not. Groupees doesn't care about DRM-free and put no effort into securing DRM-free version of games in their bundles.
When I asked Groupees about offering only Steam keys for games that have DRM-free version readily available, they replied that it's up to devs/ pubs what they offer. But contacting a few devs/ pubs about it, I got a slightly different picture - Groupees primarily asks for Steam keys.

I guess we should thank them for not having managed to restore the content after six months because that's obviously a sign of a competent entity that pushes out bundles every week or so.

Regarding the current bundle - definitely pass with so many Steam-only games. I wonder if GameSpot being a sponsor has anything to do with it.

HypersomniacLive:
No surprise...We have to admit, that, unfortunately, game market is being consumed by Steam. Peoples wanting Steam keys, so bundle selling Steam keys, which leading peoples to use Steam and repeat. Endless circle. Previously Groupees was one of major sources for DRM-free and Desura stuff (heck, most of my Desura keys originated on Groupees), looks like they going to drop it. Dammit, even Indieroyale trying to pull such tricks with Ludosity Bundle :(

Its, ofc, much easier to any bundle seller to sell JUST steam keys and nothing more - no hassle with downloads, storage, bandwidth, just take money and give key.

They wont. They started off mainly offering music..or so the story goes and its still a big influence on their bundles. I like their bundles more than other indie bundles...if they go down the steam only crap ill pass and get their music only stuff...
I would be fine with the music bonuses, if they didn't include game soundtracks as bonus goals. IMO that should be included in the base bundle.
I had a quick ask over at the guys at Kiss Ltd about Gun Metal, apparently there is a DRM-Free version but that one hasn't been setup for windows 7/8, while the steam version has been given a bit of modification to let it run on these. (their reasoning for not including a DRM-Free version) I am sorta inclined to accept some of that reasoning, its not like these guys haven't added DRM-Free versions in the past for their games in Groupees bundles (Lucius got a DRM-Free version for instance when it featured)

Have shot over a message to the BeatBlasters devs to see if they would be on board with putting in a DRM-Free version (They do offer one via the humble store so it isn't out the question). Also tried shooting a twitter message for the Sang-Froid devs (I cant seem to find a proper contact area. They too have a DRM-Free version via Humble Store)

With so huge backlog and being a fan of music in general, nowadays I buy their bundles mostly for music, and second for drm-free games.

Seems the bundle isn't selling as good as they thought it would. They unlocked the second bonus at 6,500 bundles sold and set the goal for the third bonus to 7,500 (the original goal for the second one).

New bonus is A New Beginning - Final Cut.

Meh, another repeat from Indie Gala.
2 more bonuses tacked on the end of the original 4
Bonus 4 unlocked. New Bonus @ 9,000 buys 'Brave Wave Productions - World 1-2' (Music)

The new bonus actually has some pretty big names behind it so it may be worth it (if it unlocks and given how low the bonus mark is, its likely it will. Seems this bundle didn't sell half as well as Groupees was hoping it would)
Question about Groupees- some games come with a download option, are those DRM-free standalone installers?

Short answer - yes.
