it's very, very nice to have a member of the GR team replying and interacting with people here. I am sorry for the late reply, I've been busy with Rio+20 in Brazil and stuff post that, anyways, last week for Ground Branch. I wonder what you guys, the team are planning in the background... Since John Sonedecker said he always has plans B and C.

About having time to form Clans and squad up for GR, I too don't have that much time, but there are solutions for this, for example a group of pledgers here who use GOG.com, the GOGers.

I admire the work already done by the team, I've been following it since "Sky Gods" was announced... and I am a big, big fan of the work done in the Infiltration mod for UT99, by Sentry Studios. I want Ground Branch to become the Infiltration for the new decade, to be successful. As you said, I have no problem in buyng expansions to futher expand the game and have money flowing for the developer, but tiny DLCs are a no-deal for me.

Can you tell us more about this AI solution (Kynapse, by Autodesk)? how is it being implemented?

What about Unreal Engine 4? do you have a deal already settled with Epic for UE3 and now it's too late into development to update into UE4, I guess? Bigger costs?

I don't care much about large scale destruction in GR, small scale does it; after all this is not ArmA or Battlefield, this is in a lower scale, focused on personal and team's tactics.

lowyhong: One problem I have with the video is that raising the gun sights to eye level is really too fast. Being a trained operative means one is able to ready his gun faster than the average Joe, but I doubt anyone can do it consistently like in the video. I've tried aiming down gun sights before with the GPMG, AR15 and SAR21 (and probably so has every other Singaporean male), and trying to align the rear aperture and front tip is not as easy as it looks. In terms of gameplay balance, it also means you can make aimed shots in a snap i.e. more reliance on reflexes than tactics.
I agree with you on that, some of the movements are too fast. Changing for the pistol is okay because it's smaller, but getting your rifle out and with the perfect aim is not that easy and that fast.

Muscle fatigue is a very nice detail to have, and simulating the weapons' weight. Will Ground Branch also simulate climate effects, like cold and snow scenarios and what effect that has to the human body? I wonder.

look, the Ground Branch team is working on this for four or more years already, they have many videos on youtube and a playable alpha.

I just want to give an example about INFORMATION readily available to the potential customer:
Contrast that with Serellan's Takedown kickstarter, and what is the result? Do you really find Ground Branch not worth of your trust, after this comparison?

You only get charged if the game gets 100% funded. Don't worry.

Also, get real: you think that an "8-bit" or "16-bit" title (I'll assume you meant pixel-art) doesn't take a lot of work? Check out "Cortex Command". Go ahead and google that, for a second.

Games are a lot of work, and it takes a lot to make an impression. Those that played this genre of games know what to look for, and that's who we're catering to. It doesn't work for everyone (clearly, you), but it doesn't have to. That's the beauty of indie game development.

You don't have to support us with your money, but do your research before you shit on someone, please. When's the last time you saw someone from the games industry come into a public space, and publicly address concerns like this, eh?

Either way, you've made up your mind. That's fine. You're not the first person on the internet to be negative. Just realize that it's insane to think that we'd rip you off; can you honestly believe that? At the very least, if you walk away with one bit of knowledge, walk away with that. There are much easier ways to scam people, than to crucify your name, your company and your IP.

People don't realize that the whole process of making games is not that easy, and how they easily insult the developers. Thanks for your attention displayed here, Mr. Conley.

Dead State? Yes, indeed people are burnt out. I am.

I think Ground Branch should be rebooted two or more months from now, people are burnt out of kickstarter and there are incoming summer sales at games retailers, so people are saving money. In two or three months I think GB would be more successful.

Who knows why it didn't work. We could debate that all day. We're aware of our missteps, but we're still perplexed as to why gamers in this niche are so demanding. Ultimately, it seemed like the majority of our problems came down to "B." It's hard enough pleasing your average gamer; it's nearly impossible to please a tactical shooter gamer. People couldn't seem to understand that our netcode was broken, and that the current build wasn't ready to use in showing an online match.

Perhaps it's a fault for having high standards, but I suspect it would've hurt us more by showing broken features.

We're going to take a little break, and then, get back to work. Hopefully, something else comes along so that we can complete the game. In the meantime, please stop by our forums and hang around.

Who knows why it didn't work. We could debate that all day. We're aware of our missteps, but we're still perplexed as to why gamers in this niche are so demanding. Ultimately, it seemed like the majority of our problems came down to "B." It's hard enough pleasing your average gamer; it's nearly impossible to please a tactical shooter gamer. People couldn't seem to understand that our netcode was broken, and that the current build wasn't ready to use in showing an online match.

And the fact that there are too many shooters in the market does not help it either and the fact that "People are tired of Military Shooters" even though this is not a Call of Duty clone
comparing this game to call of duty is like comparing Gran Turismo to Mario Kart

Sad to see it didn't make it, kinda crazy that some projects with big names but on extremely conceptual levels get overfunded, while projects like this, Retrovirus, Skyjacker and many others with playable builds or at least are evidently well into production struggle (or downright fail) at getting funded. I think some of the most heartbreaking to me were Metal Savior and Conquest 2: Vyrium Wars, which while they didn't have playable alpha builds up (which might have helped them) had been in development for a long time and really failed to get anywhere close to their funding goals, forcing the studios into closure.

Burn out and saving for the future. I did pledged $50 for Ground Branch, but would have pledged $125 if I could this month. I am sad GR didn't make it.

I am too "pissed" GR didn't make it, I know it's hard, it makes me sad that other dumber projects (as you put) did make it, seriously WTF: people say they want change but they don't do a damn thing or a damn investment. I'll use a bad example but don't care: instead of investing $50 in GR, people prefered to drop $50 for Spec Ops: The Line, isn't it sad and revolting at the same time?! Then they play through the game and call it consolized and the whole blah blah this industry needs a change blah it's all call of duty-like, and proceed to buy the next "AAA" shooter game.

You have to have the press on your side, I didn't read many news about GR's kickstarter and kept wondering why. I found a few interviews I linked here, though. I'll just say that no matter about the journalism side of it, in two or three months if you do relaunch the GR kickstarter, I will pledge again. Just don't do it now with the steam summer sales approching... ;)

Retrovirus, indeed. Conquest 2: Vyrium Wars, nice that you did remember about that one. Wasnt there a Nexus 2 kickstarter too or was it being self-funded? Don't know if both will be released or not.

Well, even Xenonauts which is a great game suffered to get funding, even Dead State, and there are others. People are burn out.
