Come on guys - let's make it hardcore!

I'm gonna print out the grid paper and turn off the automap.

Who's with me?
I'm lizardman enough, but I don't think I can do that. Perhaps for another playthrough sometime in the future, but not the first one. Automaps are one of the things I really miss in old games.
I'll be playing it on hard with the automap turned off, without grid paper and I'll be wearing an eye-patch because that's how I roll.

Hardest difficulty, no automap and ironman-mode. If I don't end up screaming, raging and punching my monitor I'm gonna call it a bad game.
Automaps are for halflings!
All minotaur fighter party? eh? C'mon guys, I'm sure it'll work out

It should work, some weapons have reach, so the boys in the back can fight as well!

And am I lizardman enough? Well, I have a Slann that currently sits on his throne, carried by 4 temple guards, glaring at me. I guess I have to be.
Hit with the pointy end, don't stop until they die.

How hard can that be?
Lucky my printer can print graph paper. Nice I cannot wait and Im gonna have a pot of coffee and munchies ready for this one. Ironman mode... I too much of a wuss to try that maybe on the second play through.
Already printed, double side, folded, and waiting.
As i've never really explored the DIY maps in games, i'm rather anxious to try it out. :)
Honestly, I have the feeling all those who want to play with automaps, actually never have played without them before.

Nobody in his sane state of mind can actually want to revert back to this, after gruesomely being forced to use it.
Yep, ready. I would propose a solo run, but as it was too easy in DM, better start with the old-school paper mapping mode.
TBH drawing the map yourself, grid for grid, does not sound like fun at all. i can imagine that it improves the immersion factor a little but i'd figure it gets old fast.
I'm going with four mages.

There are benefits to mapping yourself. You can mark where locked doors are, and then note when you have unlocked them. Or you can track where you have searched every wall for some stupid hidden switch you are trying to find. Nevertheless, I'm keeping the automaps on.
