The news... they are too good!
avatar
Artoemius: That's just great! But the original news called this a "remastered" re-release. So I'll try not to hope for too much, remembering the recent unfortunate re-release of Z, which was apparently completely killed by remastering.
avatar
darthspudius: Different kind of game and this is not being remade specifically for a tablet is it? Thats the problem Z had, it was made for touch screen devices!
I hope you're right. However, this is being remade specifically for consoles! Which is better than tablets, but still horrifying :)

Not really. Considering the type of game they're not going to do much but make it controller compatible. Which might not be a bad thing considering how horrible the original controls were.
avatar
darthspudius: That was a bit of a stupid comparison.
avatar
phaolo: Why? I'd like to experience the original look, music and gameplay.. what's wrong with that?
Big modifications for me are good only if optional.
Well then ignore it, don't post on the subject and go play the original discs. Problem solved! :)

I've always wanted to play Grim Fandango! It looked like a really cool game. The GOG Wishlist alone has over 43,000 votes!
Grim is just wonderful, the last great point and click adventure ever made. It's huge, not six hours long, the plot is amazing, the characters are wonderfull. Is a masterpiece.

The title of this thread is sort of misleading since we still do not know if this is a built from the ground up remake.

Well, they announced like this, I dunno how describe it XD
avatar
stg83: Hopefully, If the game on PC is going to be published by Double Fine as well then I would bet tinyE's remaining nut that it will be on GOG like all of their other games published by them are. :)
Double Fine took their sweet time with their own games though.

avatar
IanM: then we curse and fart in their general direction, and buy more DRM free games as consolation?
Goes without saying! ;-)

Part of me hopes its not a built from the ground up remake. I like to experiance this game as it originally was/is.

Unless this remake is 100 percent faithful to the original, in Art-Style and even in Voice Actors and Presentation and Cinematography.

Thats what YOU think mwhahaha! Look for a program called Residualvm, very easy to find. Played the game a few times without a problem. All you do is copy the desk to your computer and run it through the program. Very simple. :)

The original announcement call it a remastering, so that does suggest more strongly that it would an HD makeover with console friendly controls added. A full remake would also be more expensive and risk less profit, so I think we can be cautiously optimistic that it will be the old game with a lick of fresh paint.

Wohoo! Now GoG, work your magic and bring it on here, where it belongs! So excited! Grim's finally coming home :D

Yeah, that is unfortunately true it may be a very long wait for the game to be available on GOG which would be only possible though if its published by them on PC and not by Disney Interactive or something like I said before.
