keeveek: So now they are starting to gather money on a project they announced like years ago? Sorry, I wouldn't trust them with a penny...

and all the money from titan quest went for the hookers, yes?
Wow, do you even know what happened to Iron Lore?

Inform yourself more before you jump the gun on such a ignorant post.

keeveek: Only two? I thought it's the whole titan quest crew... hm...
Well, until they get funding they probably don't need more than 8 or so. They would need somebody to prepare the materials and run PR. That shouldn't take more than 5. I would be curious how many people are really involved at the moment though.

So...what did happen to Iron Lore? Serious question, btw.

They have two people working full time on the project:
"Though we have several experienced developers working on Grim Dawn, only two of us are in a financial situation where we can afford to support ourselves without a salary (albeit on a steady diet of bread and moldy cheeses). The other guys involved with Grim Dawn work day jobs at other game studios to pay the bills and contribute as they can on nights and weekends. As you might imagine, this makes for pretty slow going and it is certainly not ideal for creative collaboration. When critical team members end up in crunch at their day jobs, they can sometimes get tied up for weeks, causing certain aspects of our development to temporarily grind to a halt."

Two people working three years without a salary, as well as several working part time. That shows a lot of dedication and belief in the project.

Well the whole thing started out wrong with Titan Quest, with huge involvement from THQ that made all kind of ridiculous demand for the game.
For one, did you ever wonder how come there is no blood in a game that is labeled as "hack n slash"?

Check out this topic for more info:
http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?p=37225#post37225

There are also a few interviews that go into detail about the creation of the game.
The game wasn't a commercial success that THQ wanted and I for one do see why, the game has some solid mehanics, but to me always seemed somehow off.

After Titan Quest and it's expansion the team was sacked, but they had to make one more game because of their contract.
So to get most out of the deal THQ gave them to develop DOW: Soulstorm, I don't even need to get into how nonsensical this decision was, not to mention cruel being forced to make a game with a boot already up your ass.

The team functioned as a contractor as most devs do these days with THQ holding any licenses, so don't expect them to make any profit for any TQ games sold.

Don't get me wrong, I do appreacieate the dedication, but I'm not "brave" enough to trust indie devs with my own money.

When companies invest into projects they expect that money to be multiplied. And this is what most companies do - invest their assets, to multiply further.

With indie devs it's more often like "spend every dime you've earnd on hooch and bitches". And I cannot trust such people with my money. I can buy their products, but not fund their projects.

For example, what happened with Terraria. Devs promised many upgrades and content updates. But they lied. Devs went wherever they wanted, on basis
"I made my million, I'm outta here" and left people with no further support.

With indie devs it's more likely to happen on regular basis, like "ok, so me made game X, now were making game Y and we need your money again"

I cannot support such business. But that's just me.
My point is that they have done a lot in a couple of years. Though you might find some inherent flaw related to indie devs, surely the fact that this is such a mature project must be seen as a positive rather than a negative. We know that this is a project that will very likely be delivered, and it will probably be one of the best Kickstarter releases. I am not even nearly as positive when it comes to projects such as Shadowrun (though I have supported it).

I fail to see how we can trust any Kickstarter project if we cannot trust these guys (who have proved their dedication and quality, and who have CVs that backup their claims).

I pledged $85 ("Digital Deluxe Edition" for myself). I will probably open another Kickstarter account, and pledge $50 more ("Digital Collectors Edition" for my girlfriend).
Gave the minimum 20$, can't wait to start hacking and slashing.

Playing single player mostly, I see it as a much better deal getting this and Torchlight 2 for 2/3 of the price of Diablo 3.

And you can add Path of Exile to the list (free to play, though it will have an in-game-store - supposedly nothing that affects game balance).
They've got over $37,260 already! :D
(890+ backers)

Too soon to hope for $1,000,000+ ? :)

*bump*

They're over 13% of the way to the $280,000 goal now, after only 14 hours.

At this rate they should be pretty well funded by the 19th of May :)
Backed for the minimum right now. See how i go for $$$ rest of this month LOL.
