Greg Tennapel, famous for creating Earthworm Jim, had his own pitch to Disney about what the new TRON movie should be. Rather than a sequel, it was a re-boot, which would span three movies. The link provides a look at what his ideas were for the first movie, as well as a brief synopsis of what the next two movies would be. It's an interesting read, though I'm not sure I would like the direction it would take the property.

It all makes you wonder what Disney's doing, and if they might do that themselves. I agree, programs entering the real world is dumb, and another movie's already doing it in the form of The Sims.

Frankly, I hope Disney builds on the ideas that were presented in the TRON 2.0 game, where the digitization technology was being co-opted and used by an evil corporation to send espionage agents into the digital world. Some of the ideas they have already presented for the movie would seem to indicate that at least part of the game has made it into the film, such as the mysterious disappearance of Kevin Flynn, which was never clearly explained in the game but is obviously a key part of the movie.

Ugh. That sounds horrible.
