AndrewC: Tech demo. I just couldn't get my suspension of disbelief going because I was too busy almost yelling at the screen "that's not how science works!".
Great visuals though.
IShoot4lolz: As a man of science, I feel as though that would be a problem for me aswell :P
yeah... that's the problem with people who just can't enjoy something that isn't real :D however, I've seen the movie for the 3rd time in 3D IMAX with my younger brother who studies nuclear physics (you can't get more sciency than that) and he didn't love it as much as I did, but liked it, mostly because of the superb IMAX 3D effects (which are really great)
nijuu: So why would it be movie of the year? (weak year for movies imho)
I don't know, all those massive "action" scenes were just totally absorbing, I kept holding my breath with the characters, squeezing the armrests and physically enjoying the whole thing...
it is of course very, very "american" (the story and dialogues), but not stupid...
I'd call it a ride on a rollecoaster - when it is calm for a moment you're actually glad you can relax for a bit, and when the "action" takes place you just sit tight and enjoy the ride! :) and it's a ride I don't think anyone has ever been able to see before, in terms of the feeling of "being there" (even in 2D, the technical part is THAT good) - you are genuinely going to hate space after seeing this :D
