so, did anyone see this movie yet?

I did (in 2D classic format) and was so thrilled I immediatelly booked another ticket to IMAX 3D theatre to see it again

I really can't imagine a better reason to go to the movies and see a film on a big screen than this :)

I'm 50 miles from a theatre so I can't really go see it, but I caught a funny article about errors in it. It should be pointed out that most of these articles, as is the web site MovieMistakes.com, really love and appreciate these movies and don't point this stuff out to be critical but merely to have a little fun and show how difficult (if not totally impossible) being flawless can be. The guy who wrote it finished by saying that it was one of the best movies he's ever seen and will go down as one of the best ever made.

HOWEVER. :P
1) Most of the satellites in the background are rotating Earth in the wrong direction.
2) NASA is VERY anal about job assignment; a doctor WOULD NOT be doing manual labor on the Hubbell.
3) Why would an astronaut (Clooney) need to explain oxygen deprivation to a doctor (Bullock)?
4) In zero gravity hair sticks up and out, it does not remain perfectly quaffed.

Yup, me and the wife saw it in 3D this past Saturday night. Very cool flick.

I'm a little afraid (as the only thing in 3D I was ever was some IMAX documentary about journey to Moon), I don't want to look like a village boy waving my arms around trying to hide away from space debris, but I'm really looking forward to seeing it on the biggest screen in the whole country :)

Will definitively go and watch the movie within the next two weeks!

I would LOVE to see it, but my hatred of Sandra Bullock stops me from seeing it. Thoughh I do love George Clooney.

I saw it this weekend and enjoyed it a lot. Dialogues were lacking a bit however the effects combined with audio were superb. I wonder if I should pay tickets for my parents, so they see their first - and stylish - 3D movie finally.

And I hope that Sandra Bullock will be in more dramatic movies from now on, she is fine at it. Her comedy attempts (99% of portfolio) are paintful to watch.

Tech demo. I just couldn't get my suspension of disbelief going because I was too busy almost yelling at the screen "that's not how science works!".

Great visuals though.

As a man of science, I feel as though that would be a problem for me aswell :P

I refer to this movie as "Uncharted in Space" based on its setpiece action, but it was fun to watch. I did think that the acting in it was the weakest link, which I guess is an exciting thing for an ambitious CG project like this one.

So why would it be movie of the year? (weak year for movies imho)

The Smurfs 2 is the best movie not only in this year but ever!

Although I haven't seen Gravity, I can name a similarly good reason to go to the theatres: Rush

Whether you're a racing fan or not, this is a great movie. I suspect Rush and Gravity will be dueling it out for picture of the year.

yeah... that's the problem with people who just can't enjoy something that isn't real :D however, I've seen the movie for the 3rd time in 3D IMAX with my younger brother who studies nuclear physics (you can't get more sciency than that) and he didn't love it as much as I did, but liked it, mostly because of the superb IMAX 3D effects (which are really great)
I don't know, all those massive "action" scenes were just totally absorbing, I kept holding my breath with the characters, squeezing the armrests and physically enjoying the whole thing...

it is of course very, very "american" (the story and dialogues), but not stupid...

I'd call it a ride on a rollecoaster - when it is calm for a moment you're actually glad you can relax for a bit, and when the "action" takes place you just sit tight and enjoy the ride! :) and it's a ride I don't think anyone has ever been able to see before, in terms of the feeling of "being there" (even in 2D, the technical part is THAT good) - you are genuinely going to hate space after seeing this :D
