My computer keeps over heating(PS) It's an Intel Q6700quad core and ATI 4650 video card.
I'm in chapter 2 and it must be really pulling on the video card for some reason. It's happened 5 0r 6 times. Kind of guessing here.

I'm guessing you're talking about TW2? (you posted in general discussion). My brother also has overheating issues with his radeon 4850 cards. Sadly I don't really have any advice besides the generic stuff when faced with an overheating problem : dust off, make sure your case has good airflow, maybe change the heatsink for a better one, etc.

Might be a problem with some radeon cards though. Don't have any issues with my GeForce 9800. Maybe trying some older drivers could help.

4650's a very low power video card. Back when those were current, they were standard recommendations for users who were stuck with, say, a computer they got at Wal-Mart and didn't want to upgrade the power supply.

Anything that goes back that far and is overheating probably has a serious dust bunny infestation. Get a can of compressed air, open up the case, and clean it out good. Preferably outdoors.

It's even possible that the GPU's own cooler is clogged with impacted dust. It's not always possible to blow it out. Worst case, you may have to pull the top off the cooler to clean it out properly.

The first thing I would do is pop the hood and make sure it's not as simple as blowing the dust bunnies out of the PS, fans and CPU cooling fins. You may clean yours regularly or it may be a new computer so this may not be necessary. Eliminate the usual causes first is my motto . . . =)

Ditto on clearing off the dust. Check to make sure the fan on your video card is actually working and at a normal RPM. If the fan is working and it is dust free, you may need to get more cool air into your case. Try with your case open, or even a big fan blowing into the side (from a short distance, dont get it too close). You can monitor your cards temps (before dust off, after dust off, with case closed, with case open) with this. http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

If it works with the case open, we could probably help you increase airflow if you send some pictures of you case.

If it is still overheating, you would need to upgrade the cooling system on the card. At that point a new card would probably be less hastle unless you are comfortable with that sort of thing.
