Tag Team Game Rumble!

You could hear the sound of crowds going wild! You could hear hear the epic guitar riffs going off! You could hear the sound of muscular bodies slamming against the arena floor! No, this wasn't the echoes of Wrestlemania XXX. It was our very own special [url=http://www.gog.com/gamerumble]Battle of the Games 2014 promo, with stables of amazing games facing off each other three by three in explosive combat. You, dear GOGgers, were the referees. Now, the time has come for the grand finale! We know who won, and who did not. All of the participating games are now simultaneously on sale for the next 48 hours!

mistermumbles: Oh good. I can still nab Anomaly. It kind of slipped my mind to pick it up when it was first on sale.
Anomaly was the only one this sale that I actually picked up.

I like the idea behind the sale, there just wasn't anything that jumped out at me. A couple of decent games and a lot of Meh titles that I really didn't want.

So what you're really saying is you'd enjoy another promo like this :p
GOG -- thank you so much! I had been planning on buying Unreal Gold and Unreal 2, but that evening had some pretty hectic goings-on for me and it completely skipped my mind, and I spent all of the next day kicking myself for forgetting. But now I can get them. Great sale, I really appreciate it!

How's Zeus + Poseidon for accessibility? I'd love to try a city-builder but I tried Anno 2070 but never could figure out how to play it.

Zeus + Poseidon is quite easy to play. You have standard building panel on the right side with the map off the area. Anno 2070 is much more complex game. The game starts like this you build houses for workers that work in farms and every possible other building. In order to evolve houses you need a marketplace that delivers food, olives and fleece to the houses. You need water supply to the houses and you build wells. You need to build guard post to keep peace. You need to build theathers, academys and gyms in order to develop your houses further.
Check the first mission in the first campaign on youtube and see if you like it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDMR_HkQPKc

I've never really played city builders and may take advantage of this sale. Any recommendations as to what would be the best entry point and/or best overall city builder on sale? Leaning toward Zeus + Poseidon.

I would say Zeus + Poseidon are the easiest and most funniest to play. And you also have quests you have to fullfill in order to gain heroes who help you defeat mythical creatures and such. Where as older games Caesar and Pharaoh are more serious games without being funny. And I do own them all and have played them all.
When you start a campaing you start as a new greek state that needs to develop and grow in order to fight the enemies. There is no fighting really whey you send your armies attacking. You just get a screen saying you won or lost. But you can defend your city if you want to with your army or you can bribe the attackers to go home.

That's my choice then, thanks!
GOG: I gotta say, this was a very nicely done promo in terms of the way it rolled out each day, and the grande finale repeat is a nice way to finish such promotions. I think it's safe to say GOG'ers love grande finale repeats like that and getting a second chance on things they may have missed. In terms of promo format, it is one of the better styles you've come up with to date IMHO. We can get in, look at it, make a quick few decisions and get out without spending our entire life on the site all day every day for a few days/week like the insomnia sale. Much more productive use of time, and our time is valuable to us! Thanks for experimenting like this and please remember this format for a future promo too, this one should be repeated a few times a year. Like Battle of the Bands competitions, Battle of the Games! ;oP

Hey, perhaps even a Battle tournament? Groups of 2 games face off for smaller discounts, the winner of each goes to the next round later on with higher discounts or something until there is a big faceoff between the final 2 games for a 90% off discount or something? I dunno, just an idea. :)

I did enjoy that promo, and I enjoyed this promo as well. I enjoyed checking it out at least once a day to see what was going to be on offer. It's just that most days my response to the games on offer was, "Oh... Maybe tomorrow."

That is a clever idea. It would be interesting to have to vote "against a game" for immediate small discount, or "for it" to have it win and get a higher discount but postponed to the next round(s).

Ah! That's a nice refinement over what I suggested which actually solves some problems in my proposal! The one problem I can see in my initial idea is that some people would buy now at one discount voting for a game but be upset if the price is lower later in the tournament. Your idea kind of solves that problem in a nifty way.
At the end of this sales, I find myself owning more than a quarter of GOG catalog. With adding games from multiple other platform I owned 400-500 games.

Sorry bank account, I find myself collecting games like collecting stamps.
I bought all winners and few from defeated. It was cool promo. Nice to see Sierra titles on sale.

Let's set GOG Pay What You Want next!
