You could hear the sound of crowds going wild! You could hear hear the epic guitar riffs going off! You could hear the sound of muscular bodies slamming against the arena floor! No, this wasn't the echoes of Wrestlemania XXX. It was our very own special [url=http://www.gog.com/gamerumble]Battle of the Games 2014 promo, with stables of amazing games facing off each other three by three in explosive combat. You, dear GOGgers, were the referees. Now, the time has come for the grand finale! We know who won, and who did not. All of the participating games are now simultaneously on sale for the next 48 hours!

SpellSword: You mean like:

Master of Magic - Master of Orion 1+2 - Master of Orion 3
(VS)
Starflight 1+2 - Star Control 1+2 - Star Control 3

I wonder which team would come out on top there. -_^
(Everyone post your dream VS sets!) ^_^

Niggles: Are you guys voting for games you want to play or just to collect /complete collection?

SpellSword: To play. ^_^
Starflight + Star Control would be really cool.
avatar
SpellSword: (Everyone post your dream VS sets!) ^_^
Broken Sword 1 + Broken Sword 2 + Broken Sword 3
versus
Gabriel Knight 1 + Gabriel Knight 2 + Gabriel Knight 3

I've got all of those, but I think that would make for an interesting clash in point and click adventure-gameland.

I'm voting for the benefit of others to get a good deal...

...because all these choices are being pulled from my library(ies).

For that matchup, the Microprose set would have to win! How can one not like turn-based goodness, along with being able to choose between space or fantasy (as opposed to a set that is space-only)?

Dear lord! Only because I have not played BS2 and BS3 would I say the GK series wins outright - played all three of those and no one has topped Jane Jensen's writing in these games yet in my book.

While this VS matchup would not seem fair, how about:

Baldurs Gate complete + Balders Gate 2 complete + Planescape

VS

Ultima 4,5, & 6 + Wizardy 6+7 + Wizardy 8
Woo! Picked up Mr. Bree. Time to pick up that controller (when I get around to it).
I wonder if tomorrow will have a weekend sale in addition to Battle of the Games (not to sound too greedy).
Holycow there is a gap of 2000 votes.

groze: LOL! Every single day voting for the loser side.

I can't stand Divine Divinity, so voting for the Gothic pack was a no-brainer for me.

grimgroove: Why can't you stand it? I'm thinking of buying the first one tomorrow.
And I'm just the opposite. I'm an adventure gamer so I was a little antsy about playing Divine Divinity but it got such great reviews and sounded so interesting that I picked it up a couple of years back and I've never been sorry. Divine Divinity is a fantastic game and right under Grim Fandango on my list of favorites.

The game leads you by the hand, really telling you how to proceed and I have to give Larian all sorts of kudos for making the interface so intuitive. You level up quickly at first which helps you get through the first dungeon, though in the beginning you will probably die a lot, but you get the hang of it fast enough if you listen to the characters, read the notes left lying around and if you are a newbie at this as I was, opt for the Warrior and play the game on Easy for a start. (How anyone would play this game on Hard is beyond me.)

As for having to play it the way some 'experts' dictate, fui. Finding out what works best for you is part of the fun and the world of Rivellon is huge and beautiful once you are out of the catacombs. The graphics may be 'dated' but they're a damned sight better than a lot of recent AGs I've played. A lot of them. And I'm one of those who hates shoddy graphics. (If that leads you to conclude I won't be playing a certain highly hyped AG that just came out, you're right.)

The game rewards exploration, in parts it's really witty and you'll have a lot of fun with it if you follow the adventure gamer's credo: Save Early and Often!

The only thing wrong with Divine Divinity, IMO, is that last part after you become the Divine One. It's pretty tedious with all the hack and slash that you can't take a break from as you could in Rivellon but the game is extremely long - just when you think it's over, you find a whole new area to explore - and you'll more than get your money's worth out of it if you decide not to confront the Lord of Chaos.

(Apologies for the wall of text.)

You too huh? XD I am experiencing much the same thing. I voted Divinity since Divinity 2 is the only one of the six I don't already own XD
It's not your guys' fault- hot lady with lightening bolt eyes vs. boring guy in brown carrying a stick. There's a clear winner here!
Just realised i dont actually have Beyond Divinity on GOG (have the retail disc version though) :/...
Last 15 minutes. Come on we need 2500 more votes!
