So I bought gothic 2 yesterday, installed it and then found out it was in German. I know I downloaded the English version because I'm looking at what I downloaded at the site here but my game is in German. Did I miss something?

That happened to me a few times too, last minute it changed it to German on the version download. Download again is the advice I would say.

It happened to me at least twice, does the download column say "English"? Because I had started my download and noticed it magically said "German".

Edit: By download column I mean the pop down menu for selecting language.

Aye it says English. I'm downloading manually (my gog downloader is not working). I even stopped a download part way through to check it and the file said german again. So now I'm downloading it again and going to let it run its course.

After some nasty ass spyware that was hiding on my machine I finally got the downloader working again. Giving that a shot now

If the file name is setup_gothic2gold_2.0.0.8.exe you are downloading the English version. If it is setup_gothic2gold_german_2.0.0.8.exe you are downloading the German one.

Try to switch the language on the pulldown menu of the game to German and then back to English. Then try to download again. If you still get setup_gothic2gold_german_2.0.0.8.exe there is a bug in the website which you should report to support.

If you get setup_gothic2gold_2.0.0.8.exe you should be fine.

Are you sure that you didn't just use the middle mouse scroll while the focus was on the language menu?

That's probably what happened, but I was just dropping it as a suggestion.

Eh I was suggesting a reason for that behaviour also for the OP.
Sometimes drop-down focus is tricky.
