1/4 cup oil
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup popcorn kernels
butter
Place oil and salt in large pot (I use 8 quart) with four kernels of popcorn over medium-high heat. When all kernels have popped, remove from heat, add the rest of the kernels, and wait thirty seconds. Return pot to burner and shake pot occasionally until popping slows down.
Pour popcorn into bowl and place butter in pot to melt. Drizzle melted butter over popcorn.
This recipe tastes pretty much exactly like movie theater popcorn. The two secrets are: 1) Popping the popcorn in salted oil allows the salt to permeate the popcorn, rather than just coat the very outside, and 2) Removing the popcorn for thirty seconds allows for the kernels to be heated evenly and minimizes the number of unpopped or burnt kernels.
You could do half of the recipe in a smaller pot, but I always like making plenty of food if I'm going to bother making anything at all. :)
I'm in, thanks for the giveaway!
