Thewishingwell was an anonymous benefactor that would pop up in every "New Release on GOG.com, Game X" and post a redeem code for that game. If you thing the ninja thread is going fast, you haven't seen some of the codes posted there been redeemed in a matter of seconds.
Thewishingwell though has dissapeared lately, I think last post was about 6 months ago.
Hope this makes the "joke" clearer.

It's a bit before your time here. Thewishingwell was a mystery alternate account someone (xyem) used to give away codes in the News threads for newly released games.

thewishingwell was a entity of higher being posting a code or two for every new game that GOG was releasing in the past. Haven't seen him / her in several months now.
