jefequeso: I really hope the community doesn't become stupid.
Unfortunately, I think that's unavoidable. The "old" part of the concept has always meant that the average age of the forum users here is somewhat higher than almost anywhere else. The inclusion of new games will most likely drop the average age drastically, which is bound to have an effect on the community.
My apologies to any youngsters reading this. I don't mean to imply that all young people are idiots, just that a significantly higher percentage of them are. Unfortunately, being an idiot is usually a necessary step on the path to
not being an idiot. When I think of how big an idiot I was at the age of 14, I really don't want the person I was then to frequent this forum. Of course, some of you may not want the person I am
now to frequent this forum ;-)
Also, a huge influx of new people into an established community will usually have a disrupting effect, regardless of age. And a few releases of new DRM free games are bound to bring lots of new people flooding in.
All that said, I think it's a natural move for GOG to make. Hopefully, it can influence the rest of the industry. It is my fondest hope that other distributors with customer-hostile business practices will start to lose measureable market shares, although that is probably too optimistic. Still, one can hope.
