Firstly I get an unexpected charge making my bank account overdrawn (the copy of windows 7 I bought charged for purchase and delivery as seperate transactions) and now my laptop has just died! By the beep codes it sounds like GPU has melted which doesn't really come as a surprise since I had given it the nickname of "The Furnace" but I'd have preferred to have been proven wrong rather than right...
Just for ONCE.
Just to see what its like...
Now I have to get a quote on replacing the mobo and decide if its more cost effective to repair it or if I should give it up, do without an even vaguely game capable PC for several months of boredom induced insanity and get a real computer.
Thank fuck I have an xbox 360 and PS3 or I really would go nuts... Also a good forum to post rambling bitch sessions like this in, that helps too. Well done all.

Actually yes, mine at least runs scummvm games relatively well but then so does my PDA. A real PC is definitely cheaper than a new laptop but would be significantly more expensive than a mobo replacment since I have to buy absolutely everything apart from a dedicated OS hard drive

Well the only reason I wanted to be proven wrong is to save the $3-500 that HP will probably gouge out of me for a new mobo.
My old Dell Axim X5 could play scummvm games pretty much perfectly. My current HTC Touch Cruise does a damned good job on everything I've thrown at it so far, never tried anything with a higher framerate like Full Throttle though

I like the idea but I think its placement is wrong, as an activity when you're in a relationship I think that'd be kinda fun but as a way of getting to know someone, I can think of little worse that doesn't end in physical or mental injury

my xbox died, then my laptop hdd died, and then my dog chewed through the powercord for my laptop..

I know people around here are more into the Mac bashing wagon but, if you use your laptop for casual and GOG gaming to complement both your 360 and PS3, you should really consider buying a MacBook or even MBP. They're the best machines I've ever used in my 15+ IT years of experience and they can do Windows two for gaming :)

Uhm, yes you have, apparently. My last two cell phones have run ScummVM quite well.
