yeah, I have a four year old 13" office laptop with internal graphics, and it runs fine.

It would be garbage if not for all the GOGs your machine can run smoothly.

No way - I beat Bastion on my laptop - 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo w/ Intel 4500mhd. Played 1024x768 and there was some slowdown involved, but still very playable.

Anyway, Torchlight / Torchlight 2 would run great on 8600GT.

Arkham Asylum is playable on my 1.8ghz dual core, I guess your rig can play Arkham City too.

Like I said, I'm perfectly fine with playing indies, GOGs, freeware and NWN modules. That's already more choice than I can handle, and besides, I hardly ever spend more than $20 on a single game anyway. ;)

(Although I admit it would be nice if could play the Witcher and Legend of Grimrock, too. :( )

Have you tried the Grimrock hardware test? My laptop could pull it off at 1024x768 with low settings.

That is what I was trying to say. Your laptop is only garbage if you aren't someone who is fine with playing Indies, GOGs, freeware and NWN modules. :)

My problem is that I don't have a real graphic card at the moment; the one I had was pretty weak anyway but now that it died, I only have onboard graphics (NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce405) and I read that Legend of Grimrock won't run with an onboard graphic card. Anyway, I tried the hardware test and got a "D3DError - CreateTexture failed: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL - Please check that your computer meets the minimum system requirements, DirectX 9 is properly installed, and that your graphics card and sound drivers are up to date". :(

Well I have an onboard card myself - 4500mhd - but it's probably decently faster than a 6100.

Aha, my laptop is similar to your computer, though a bit weaker. I have:
Intel Core Duo T9400 CPU 2.53ghz
Geforece 9300M GS 256
4GB RAM (but you know laptop memory)

I use mine almost exclusively to play GOGs though.
Diablo III runs barely acceptably on minimum settings. Most areas are fine, some are extremely slow. Your gfx card is better than mine, so would probably look smoother on yours. I have made it to Hell Act II and lvl 56 thus far so it's playable, but not ideal.

I think Starcraft II worked acceptably as well.

WoW runs rather well actually.

Sorry, not offering a lot of variety here. I use my laptop a lot since I'm abroad often, however I use the opportunity to replay classics: Deus Ex, Civ III, Tex Murphy, Gothic II, Arcanum, Fallout 2, etc.

Yeah, but:
a) Bastion's minimum requirements are higher than Oblivion's minimum requirements.
b) This guy can barely run Oblivion.
hence c) he won't be able to run Bastion. WTF!

Yes, he should be fine with Bastion. I wouldn't even dare trying to run Oblivion on my system - it can barely even handle Gothic 2 or Splinter Cell 1!

Great thread. I too have an old laptop not strong enough to play The Witcher: EE. Thanks for some of the suggestions.
