Both look like good suggestions, thank you. Any kind of game, play or film would all be appreciated. I'd like to expand my own understanding, and feel this board might give good suggestions to field an inquiry about European history

btw I''m sorry to say that Moorish Spain in Assassin's creed wasn't a very worthy gaming experience for such an interesting time.

If you are looking into Victoria, you might want to consider Victoria 2. It is much improved and not deterministic, meaning there is no guarantee certain events will happen.

Thanks for the mention, something about 2s isn't there...
fallout 2
me 2
lotr 2
moo 2
empire
chamber of secrets
and on and on
Vicky 2 also uses the Clauswitz engine which makes the game relatively easy to mod since all the game data is located in easily accessible text files. And the mod community is quite active with everything from rebalancing mods, mods that add more detail to the 'uncivs' as well as some total conversion projects.
Europa Universalis 3? I mean, it's like historical crack and hard as hell. If Lords of the Realm 2 was a baseball bat of simulation it would be a Tommy Gun.
1848 is also the title of a (somehow dated but free & legit ) PC game :

otherwise, yes, Victoria II is about the best political management game on that period
