I tried to think of a witty repartee to that. I failed. :O

I kept most of them since 1994 with manuals. But for space reasons I've cut the box too keep only the back and the front sticked them and finally covered them with plastic paper so they won't get damaged easly, while remaining practical to keep without taking to much space.

Question: for those of you who still own these boxed games, how do you prevent mold/fungi from growing on or inside the boxes? Also, is there any way to protect them from degradation? I once used a method on Youtube (can't find the video anymore), where the author soaked a broken game box in water and left it flattened between two sheets of aluminum foil for 2 weeks. I tried it on my copy of Blake Stone, which looked like it had been ravaged in a storm, and thankfully managed to "restore" it using that method. However now I'm worried about fungus and unwelcome organisms growing on it. I've left it to dry, and put it back on the shelf, but I'm still concerned. In addition to having a dehumidifier, can I do anything else?

unless you get mold on your walls just keeping them dry should be fine you'll get the same fungus you get on books no matter what but dont worry it actually preserves them slightly and apparently gets you high when exposed to it in concentration...

By living in a country (like here) where the air is rather dry and cool, especially this time of the year.

I'm not sure if it is good or bad from this point of view that I keep my game CDs mostly in small sealed plastic bags. Moisture can't get in, but it can't get out either.

So far I haven't noticed any problems with even the oldest CD games, they all still seem to work perfectly fine. Not sure about some CD-R and CD-RW disks, I've heard they degrade faster than retail CDs, but then I don't care about them as much because they mostly have just some useless fluff for which I've never paid anything.

A few weeks ago I was very surprised to see that one 20 years old floppy disk was still working! Well, I didn't check if all the old data inside was still intact, but at least the floppy disk was still fully usable after reformatting. I just needed an empty floppy disk and a drive in order to flash the BIOS of my old desktop PC.

I have a handful of boxed PC games and I'm constantly looking out for more. The problem I'm facing is preservation and display.

I'm planning to build a wide custom shelf to the specifications of the standard game box size (or to the largest one that's not a special shaped box), but for now, all my games are stacked nastily in my closet and the bottom ones most definitely don't like the weight I'm putting on them :(

Some of them have suffered quite a bit from moving. Next time I'm gonna carefully move them in small quantities in a proper sized cardboard box or something like that.
