Hey all. As the final step up purging Apple from my life, I got a Samsung Galaxy Player. With SD card, it has 40 GB of memory and my music will probably only fill up 16-20 of that, so I was wondering if anybody had any good Android apps to recommend, 'specially games.

What I have so far:
-DosBox Turbo
-ScummVM
-Gonna add some more emulators in a bit
-NewsRob
-Dolphin Browser
-Minecraft PE Demo (Gonna play around with it to see how it translates to Android and see if it's worth buying)
As I got rid of Android a few months ago for something that suits my needs better, take this as a strictly off topic post. ^^

I'm just curious, why are you "purging" Apple from your life?

It was a bit of an extreme statement, but they basically get on my nerves with all their closed systems and such. Like the Gatekeeper function coming up for new Macs, for example. I'm a moddy customization-obsessed type, so it kind of gets on my nerves.
Look at games published by Gameloft. Most of their games are "near AAA" titles, as in they look and play an awful lot like certain games, but aren't those games. I've got a Blur-like racer called Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, a Starcraft-like RTS called Starfront: Collision and a Final Fantasy-like RPG called Eternal Legacy. They also do licensed games and mobile versions of "real" games like Assassin's Creed and Rainbow 6. Just steer clear of their freebie games, most of them are adware ridden and require excessive permissions.
Not sure if these are exactly "must haves", but they're some that I have installed.
TED (loads of great talks)
Zen Bound 2 (calm physics game about wrapping objects in string)
GemRB (lets you play the Infinity Engine games)
SoundHound (lets the device identify a song playing from a nearby speaker at the moment)
Ghost Commander (in my opinion the best file manager I've used for Android devices)

Six Guns
Tiny Tower
Apparatus
Game Dev Story
Minecraft Pocket Edition
Dead Space mobile was a surprisingyl decent game for my Samsung Galaxy. And it was free! If you like the games, that is pretty much a must buy. And I'm now also eyeing other, more expensive games, after seeing what can be made.

I was literally just thinking how awesome it'd be if I could play the Infinity Engine games on it, thanks for the link. I'll go through the rest of these in a second. :)

Note that the games are not exactly optimised for touch, and so requires a bit more patience than playing with proper input methods.
Quake 1

SSHdroid
connectbot
dropbox
i will second the recomendation for game dev story, was an addictive little game in spurts
I don't own Android, but i asked a friend of mine who does what are the best games for it, and he said it's the Zenonia series.

Which is what, exactly? It looks like a Galaxy phone, but with no phone, is that about it? I never even knew they made something like that.

Essentially yeah. It is to the Galaxy Phone as the iTouch is to the iPhone.

EDIT: One game that I haven't seen mentioned is Majesty. Although it's a bit simplified from the PC version and I don't like the cartoony graphics as much, it's still great fun and quite unique.

They made an Android version of that? I thought it was only for the iOS.
