JohnJSal: Just got a response!

Hello,
I apologize for not being able to reply sooner. Given that King's Bounty is a relatively new game, it's doubtful that the problem would result from your drivers. Have you tried downloading and installing the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft's site ( http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/ )? Perhaps some of your DirectX files are corrupt and reinstalling them will fix the problem.
Downloading and installing the latest possible video and audio drivers could help as well.
Unfortunately I'm unable to recreate the problem on our end, nor did we encounter such crashing issues during playtests (otherwise we wouldn't have released the game, of course). I'm therefore unable to provide a 100% certain solution to your problem. I understand that you didn't encounter such problems in other games on your current system?
Regards,
Peter

Edit: I should note that I did submit my dxdiag file and yet he doesn't claim Windows 7 is the problem. On the other hand, I have my doubts if he even looked at the file, since he suggests updating DirectX although I already have the latest version.

Just in case you don't know it, Microsoft releases an updated version of DX files every few months. They retain the number/version of the previous one, but there are updates in them. If you haven't, I strongly suggest to go to MS and redownload the latest version.

I play the game (Impulse version) on Win7 64-bit, and I don't get the issue. If it's Win7 related, it's probably an issue with GOG's release.

I have my doubts you even bothered reading Peter's reply.

Where does he suggests updating your DirectX ?
Updating a component and reinstalling it to fix issues caused by corrupt files are two very distinct suggestions.
I'm sorry, you had a point about the lack of reply, but regarding fixing the issue with the game it doesn't look like you're interested in trying anything unless its a 100% guaranteed fix, and off course, as we all know there's no such thing.
I've alerted GOG's PR man to the general support issue and he's (a few hours ago) said he'll see what he can do: https://twitter.com/EvolveTom/status/21409814546
Perhaps that got them back on track. ;)

I poked Skreczi yesterday too. It would seem he's talked to people at the office today.

Are you serious!? Let me turn the phrase around once again and say I have my doubts that *you* read Peter's reply. If you'll just read the sentence right before the one you quoted, you'll see that it says:
"Have you tried downloading and installing the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft's site ( http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/ )?"
Yep, last release of Direct X was in...June. So long as you have that installed, we can check that one off the list.

I would imagine that there may be some confusion between redistributes (improvements to existing DirectX) and upgrading graphics cards (the only way to get the new versions of DirectX, as in DX 11 and the like). For the record, the support man was referring to the former. Specifically, this installer.

Do you want some cheese to go with that?
And what are you wearing?

Well John, putting the two sentences togheter looks like Peter was wondering if you had corrupt files, noy necessarily outdated ones. Naturally for reinstalling purposes he pointed you to the latest available version. Which version of DirectX do you think he should have pointed you for reinstalling purposes if not the latest ?
In any case, i sincerely hope you manage to find a solution for your problem with KB.
Guys, I know you think you are funny and are policing the boards and the like, but this is kind of the sort of situation where you shouldn't respond if you can't be civil. I won't specifically say who I am mentioning, but if you think this applies to you: it probably does.
If you can't be civil (even if the other guy might not be), just don't respond to the thread. All you are doing is making GoG look like a cesspool of trolls and jerks. And don't you guys claim that Steam is like that? Do you really want people to be able to draw parallels between the GoG forums and the Steam forums?
If someone "starts stuff" in another thread, feel free to police the boards. But if someone is looking for help and is concerned about the quality of the site, THIS isn't really helping.
