You guys may have heard of the wishlist... *drumroll*

Anyway, by now I've added quite a lot of games to it and voted on lots of games that had only one vote or two. In some cases I'm actually surprised that there's another human being that knows that particular title when it's already on the list. But in many cases I'm just shocked that a certain game seems to have disappeared into complete oblivion.

Some of my bigger surprises include:
Flying Saucer
Bet on Soldier: Blood Sport
Tom Clancy's SSN
D
Theatre of Death

I'm not saying that these games should have like a zillion votes on the wishlist just because I like them or have interest in finally having a chance to play them. What bothers me is that I feel like I'm the only one in the universe (except for maybe one or two other people) who remembers them, some are barely present in any form on the web anymore while they were quite "big" at some point. I'm wondering if you guys feel the same about some other games - I thought that sharing these kinds of thoughts might dig up some interesting stuff.
Tom Clancy's SSN is the only one on that list I've heard of, but I didn't own it. I had a couple EA/Janes sub games which is probably why... just didn't need one more, I guess?

Of the others, "D" looks familiar (by the box cover) but probably just recognize it from seeing an ad in a mag or something. I wonder if some of those were more popular in Europe than in US?

My favoritist lesser-known game would probably be EA's Powerdrome. I'm sooo sorry I sold that to a guy at work. Also Continuum (aka Alpha Waves).

I've heard of D before but never got to play it
Star Tropics and its sequel for the NES come to mind. It was produced by Nintendo of America, and now that they just translate games instead of making their own, it seems the most we'll ever get from the series are virtual console rereleases.

Yeah, especially in the simulator and the hex-strategy genre there's so many forgotten titles. My brother collected lots of simulators and strategy games released under certain labels like "Jane's" which you mentioned, he also bought many strategy games including ones that were sold in Germany under a label called "Historische Schlachten" ("Historical Battles"). Many of these games are somewhat "dry" in their presentation but are among the best in terms of realism and even playability.

Oh yeah, that too. Voted for it on the wishlist. I got it from the cover DVD of a Polish magazine. The best scifi racing game I've played on the PC yet.

Edit: Ah crap, "EA's Powerdrome" is the 1990 game. I meant the remake. But yeah, I've also heard some people speak very fondly of the original Powerdrome. Would love to check this one out someday.

I can't shake the feeling I'm the only person in the world (or one of the few, at least) who played/ heard of these:

Alien Earth

Diggles/Wiggles
http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/diggles-the-myth-of-fenris

Dreams to Reality
http://www.mobygames.com/game/dreams-to-reality

Soldiers at War
http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/soldiers-at-war

U.F.O.s
http://www.mobygames.com/game/ufos

... which is a crying shame, because they deserve to be rediscovered.

There's also The Prince and the Coward/ Galador: Der Fluch des Prinzen/ Książę i Tchórz, which never got an English release.
I would buy the heck out of D if it came here for a reasonable price. The other ones you've listed, not so much, but that's down to genre preference on my part.

You know, clicking "load more wishes" again and again, seeing more and more of the wishlist, with maybe one in fifty marked with the green "Completed," gives a sense of futility to using the feature. I wonder how many games have been released because they're on the wishlist?

Phaidox: snip
Wiggles is actually quite famous in Germany. I know a lot of people there who played it and IIRC the game even had a TV ad in Germany. I have it lying around somewhere but I must admit that I haven't played it yet.
I played Soldiers at War a lot, though. Forgot to add it to my list although it's also among the games I found on the list yesterday. ^^
U.F.O.s I only remember from ads in the press, also a game I found on the wishlist yesterday.

The other ones I haven't even heard about at all. Especially Dreams to Reality looks amazing. Can't believe it's a DOS game. Thanks for posting. :)

What's interesting about DtR is that it included Win95, DOS and 3Dfx versions on the same disc.
Such an imaginative, yet sadly totally overlooked and underappreciated game - a (pretty successful, in my opinion) mix of TPP and adventure genres; spiced by superb surreal imagery.

Here's something rather intriguing I've stumbled upon while browsing through the wishlist. It looks/sounds like a game I'd potentially enjoy.

Fields of Fire: War Along the Mohawk

Has anyone ever heard of it?
Some I feel are kind of unknown.

EdIt: GOG needs to fix the edit button, I found one mistake and it completely fucked the post up.

Thunderscape, a first-person party-based fantasy steampunk RPG by SSI.

I got this game out of the bargain bin for a dollar not long after it came out. Few people seemed to have heard of it back then, and it seems to be almost completely forgotten nowadays. It wounds me that it has only 39 votes on the GOG wishlist.

The game is not quite as good as Might & Magic 3-5 or Wizardry 6-7, but it's a solid dungeon crawl with plenty of mazes, puzzles and monsters, and the soundtrack kicks ass. I had a blast playing it.

I still have the game, but I can't get it to run properly in Dosbox. If GOG releases it, I will buy it in an instant.

Centurion: Defender of Rome - I think that this game has aged really well, it's still fun to play. Only problem is that it's on floppy disks. The literally floppy kind.

Nomad is great too.
