XzarTheMad: A pity that Serious Sam: The Second Encounter is so far down on the list. It's still probably the best of that particular brand of games, and definitely the best of the Serious Sam series.

Lafazar: Well, that was to be expected with the HD remakes out on Steam at the same time for not much more. The only thing they are missing is the low gravity levels.

Another point is that we do not have absolute numbers, so we don't know how much less than the top 10 games the bottom 10 have sold. Could be anything from 2/3rd as much to 1/1000th as much.
Hmn. I guess you have a point, although I'd say that the HD versions don't really look that good... probably my bias from having played the games when they came out speaking. :P You're right, of course. Still, a pity. More people ought to try it.
I've only just started it, but I'm quite liking Still Life and it seems to be highly reviewed so am quite surprised its one of the worst sellers. Probably just one of those games that gets overlooked, I must admit I did overlook myself until only recently, think it was some posters praising it that got me to take a serious look at it.

Still life has only been out for a few weeks and has yet to be included in a sale so i'm not surprised it's so near the bottom.
Another interesting thing is that the strongest sellers are mostly rpg's with Fallout leading the way and at the bottom end seems that adventure games tend not to sell as well.

I might go and pick up still life later as it seems interesting.

Ah, thought it had been out longer than that, never saw the news of its release so presumed it had been out before I signed up, must've been release while I was crippled in Italy. :D

Kurina: Top 10 Worst Sellers
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Oh I still have to get that game 8)

And you adventure gamers should get Still Life, it's good

Maybe it's because there are so many adventure games here, and there are a few universally-acclaimed ones among them, but the other, lesser-known ones only have their fanbase to buy them.
So with the info from the sorting, and some simple formatting and use of Excel, we can find a relation between time available on GOG and rank in the best sellers list? Sure, why not?

It mostly makes sense. There are some good games near the bottom. But they're either new to the site or overpriced compared to elsewhere.

I mean there's simply no reason at all to grab the Serious Sam games here. They're DRM-free and cheaper elsewhere. I grabbed them for mere pence.

Both soccer games are near the bottom. I guess this site's aversion to sports games (because of all the licensing) doesn't help matters.

Megarace 3, Simon the Sorcerer 3D, Earthworm Jim 3, Master of Orion 3 and Empire Earth 3 all seem to be doing a crappy job of leeching off the success of their predecessors.

I'm surprised the Unreal games are doing so well. This certainly isn't the best place to buy them.
One interesting thing is that the bottom 10 are mostly $9.99 while the top ignoring the free games are mostly $5.99. Which may indicate that some of those bottom 10 titles are overpriced.

Price seems important. There are some games in the bottom there that I bet would earn a lot more money if their prices were lowered. Shows how stupid some publishers are too, selling something like Journey to the Centre of the Earth for $9.99. Thanks to their own greed, they're hardly making any money off the game here.

Very true, they always seem to appear in Steam sales and I myself picked up the retail anthology which is DRM-Free for €10.

I got the Anthology too. It's not entirely DRM-free as it comes with a serial. But seeing as you need one for multiplayer anyway I consider that a bonus.

After all, I thought GOG was supposed to be eliminating the need to beg the service provider for further use of your product. That does make the Unreal situation here a little ironic.
People like free stuff... who knew?

After suffering through some truly awful DRM over the past few years I don't really consider a CD-Key even DRM anymore. Certainly not a serious one anyway, little more than a little nuisance. When I see people complain about disc checks and one-time activations it makes me laugh now as the Publishers would have it very, very difficult for us if they had their way. For example if I see TAGES mentioned I will seriously re-consider buying a game even if I really want it, I just don't want that on my PC and the less said about Starforce (or whatever they are calling themselves these days) the better.
