The big day is approaching and everyone is counting hours, minutes and seconds when the GOG staff members will appear in the spotlight! Believe us, we're all excited about this as well, but first things first. Let us give you some details, so everyone knows who, what, where and when.

Who? All of you, our dear users, are invited to watch the live streaming of the CDP Days 2011 Spring Conference.
What? The live streaming will include presentations by CD Projekt RED with their awesome game The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, and GOG.com revealing some cool stuff. Both presentations will be in English.
Where? You'll be able to watch both presentations on GOG.com. On Thursday we'll put up a news post with a live stream video window embedded in it for your convenience.
When? The live streaming of CD Projekt RED presentation will start on Thursday, April 14 at 12:00 p.m. EST (that's 4:00 p.m. GMT - that's 9:00 a.m. Los Angeles time, 12:00 p.m. New York, 5:00 p.m. London time or 6:00 p.m. Warsaw time). GOG will hit the stage an hour later at 1:00 p.m. EST (5:00 p.m. GMT).

You may also notice some teaser spots on the front page. These will change during the next three days, so feel free to speculate what's it all about :). See you on Thursday!
The more I think about it the more I think the outlaws one was way too obvious.
You know there is always a possiblilty it's Lucasarts AND EA.

It's extremely unlikely but nevertheless it is possible. The number 1 and number 2 most wanted publishers.

Yeah, I guess it isn't LucasArts after all. That would be too good to be true anyway. I wouldn't complain about EA or Eidos either though. Then again, in the end it's probably none of these and instead some obscure publisher we've never heard of. ;)

I really can't think of anything good for the outlaws one other than outlaws though. I think reading the word outlaws every time is messing with my ability to think of alternatives.

They all fit well with Lucasarts, it's just outlaws is so obvious. I guess some previous tease campaigns were obvious too though, like the Zork one.
Origin anyone ?

What Game Made you Dream of the Stars - Wing Commander / Privateer series
What Game Made You Ride with the Outlaws - Crusader series
What Game Made You Fear Your Past - System Shock
What Game Made You Go To the Underworld - Ultima
If it's going to be Lucas Arts I'll jump for joy because it's long overdue for GOG (although for EA I'll jump even higher). Ah, the dreamers we are...

Origin is part of EA though, isn't it? I just realized ...

"ride with outlaws" can still mean Full Throttle ;)

serpantino: Will these games all be released or will we get the usual slow trickle? There's still a lot of games from the current publishers that haven't made their way to GOG. I know there's the whole compatibility issue but that's a key problem with Grim Fandango which is exceptionally difficult to get running properly on any Win 2000 and beyond operating system (which is why I haven't gotten to play it yet despite owning a copy.) the patches out to fix it for XP don't work properly.
The GOG team is small but they freely admit they use external programs like ScummVM and DosBox for many games which all have their own bugs, a lot of which are still in the games GOG releases and therefore there's still no guarantee of the games working properly. I don't want to buy a 2nd copy of a game like Grim Fandango only to find out it has the same problems as my disk copy post-patching.

I feel bad for keeping on posting negatives but they are things worth remembering and addressing. It's not all sunshine and roses even after things are released on GOG; infact it could be the start of a whole new wave of problems.
Slightly off topic, but are you aware of the unofficial replacement installer for Grim Fandando? You said something about patches, so I don't know if that's what you meant. In any case, I can run Grim Fandango on Windows 7 using the replacement installer.

You can download the program here: http://quick.mixnmojo.com/grim-fandango-setup

You will still need the Grim Fandango disks to install the game. The program just replaces the old LucasArts installer which doesn't work on modern systems. It also includes a new launcher which does not work properly for me. You can just start grim.exe directly without using the launcher, however.

Although the wood scheme of the "outlaws" post does suggest Outlaws, I would point out that in that game you don't ride WITH the outlaws. Maybe I'm reading too far into it.

Also, while I would LOVE to see some LucasArts stuff on GOG, most of their classics are already on steam. That's not to say that it cant be here as well, just pointing that out.

I'm hoping for SMAC all the way

I wouldn't say most. Tons of great titles are not on there (which is curious in itself). That said you are right that GOG needs to release titles we don't all already own from Steam if they want to make a real splash. Tomorrow's release especially should be, like Baldur's Gate, something only found on GOG.

The fact Lucasarts have not been releasing anything on Steam since their second wave of classics is kind of odd when you think about it. If this is truly Lucasarts coming to GOG one would have to wonder why they stopped releasing games on Steam two years ago.
What game made you go the underworld? ULTIMA UNDERWORLD 1 and 2

I had played games before, but those games made it official: I was addicted to games. Later, System Shock and Deus Ex would strengthen my addiction.
Oh Grim Fandango yesyesyesyes
The biker gang in Full Throttle were called the polecats, and the Outlaws reference is too obvious for the actual game 'Outlaws' - plus you never ride with any .....

Are we looking at this wrong?
Everybody keeps linking "underworld" with Grim Fandango. I don't remember them ever dropping that term in the game. True, I have yet to beat it, but if I recall correctly, they just keep "the land of the dead." Which doesn't necessarily mean "underworld" to me. Just a thought.
