It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I've just done some updates to GogPM and I thought it's a good time to start a new, clean official thread.

For those who haven't heard of it yet, GogPM is a private message system I made for gog.com forum users. Use the GogPM website to send short messages directly to anyone else on who's registered on GOG. I encourage everyone here to try it out.

recent updates: (13 February 2011)
GogPM is back! It had been down for a few days (I didn't realise because, by sheer coincidence, my own DSL connection had been unavailable at the same time). The reason for the outage is that my webhost decided to shut down. Fortunately, I had made a database backup on the 31st when I had the chance.

xyem is now hosting GogPM on his own server, which means it's now working again. Everything (messages, passwords, etc.) has rolled back to the backup from the 31st though, so some of your messages may have gone missing. I apologise for that.

I cought an endless loop on "If you try to visit GogPM and you're not logged in you it has always been that you get redirected to the front page to log in", reading it over and over, and can't get it. Drinking beers and playing Power Grid with friends [also arguing rules] doesn't help it. ;)

Anyhow, great to see this project alive, i kinda forgot about it, because that plugin for Opera decided to go bonkers on me [some errors], and because nobody really wrote to me. ;P

Thanks, and carry on! [cheers!]:D
Good work Monkey.

Hehe, that was a rather tricky sentence, wasn't it? I've edited my post so it might be better-phrased now.

Yup, the site is still alive and kicking, and looking at the server stats it seems quite popular right now. I agree that the Opera plugin could be better. After learning some things about the GreaseMonkey API I've redone the Firefox version so it's very sleak, robust and iframe-free, but I haven't figured out how to get those changes working on the other browsers yet. I'll let you know when a new Opera userscript is ready.

Now i get it!:D But i'm also sober, so it might be that. ;P

I've learned to keep GOGPM as another pinned tab, and from time to time i log in.
Oh, is it normal, that i get logged out automatically after some time? Will there be a "remember me" function to stay logged in forever? That would suit me just fine, and i won't need the plugin. ;)

lightfoot8: Good work Monkey.
Thanks. I hope that it proves useful to you.

Well, that was normal because I didn't use cookies until the latest update, but now you can go to the settings and press the big "automatic login" button and thereafter it should remember you.

Now i am completely happy!:) I didn't even look into the settings [didn't even notice them!] before i posted about the "stay logged in" thing. My bad! Thank You!:)

It seems the DNS record has broken again. Gogpm.barefoot-monkey.org.za is unavailable.

GameRager: Time to buy Monk robes and hunt rabbits in caves full of skulls and bones, then?
As long as get to be a barefoot monk, that could work for me :)

Sorry about the trouble. I didn't realise the site went down because once again my Internet has been down for a week and a half. It started working again only yesterday. Telkom is... not a great telecoms company.

This is not a PR stunt, although it certainly is the case that GogPM cannot continue in it's current form. It looks like my hosting company (the one that had so much downtime in Nov and Dec) has vanished from the Internet! This happened just in time for my subscription with them to end and I wasn't going to renew anyway, so I'm not upset, but now I need to arrange other hosting for GogPM. I'll sort something out as soon as I can.

if memory serves someone had an account and offered to host it there. would just be a case of backtracking through the pm threads to find it, ill maybe look for it tomorrow
