5 years is a long, long time in the Internet. Let's go down the memory lane!

The beginning of a new year is a good time to stop for a moment and take look back on your past. You take note of your accomplishments, try to learn from your mistakes, and you get all nostalgic about the days gone by. You know we're big on nostalgia, right? With 5 very successful years in the digital gaming market, we thought we'd chat about the company's history a little. We invite you to join CD Projekt's Marcin Iwiński, Guillaume Rambourg, our Managing Director, and Piotr Karwowski, our Creative Director (both of them core members of the GOG.com team who were with us for years), as they talk about the company's history, the concept behind it, and the best (and one not very good) ideas in our history.

Thanks for being with us, dear users, and for making GOG.com the awesome place that it is! Tell us, please--what is your favorite moment in GOG.com history?

Or maybe you would like to become a part of it? Check out our GOG.com/Work page--we may happen to have an opening for a position you'd be perfect for.

My favorite moment was when I first discovered the site in 2010: I carefully punched in my pre-paid visa card info half-expecting for the account to be drained in some sort of scam catering to DRM-hating gamers from the middle of a foreign country,,, but then I received a game I would have had no other legal way of playing.

From then on, GOG has become my favorite source of games, and I really appreciate that they make an effort to release games that have been "out-of-print" for so long.

Congratulations on the 5 Years!
Thank you for reminding me of the infamous Commodore Amiga-Atari rivalry, I couldn't help but laugh a bit. Those were the days. :)

Wszystkiego dobrego, chłopcy i dziewczęta z GOG! Wykonujecie wspaniałą pracę.

Yeah, you're pretty bitter. Could have done without the melodrama.
The Insomnia sale was my favorite moment because of the community comments in the forum.

2nd favorite was when I found that the full Battle Isle was available here. I had play part of the third one when it was released but got stuck and always wondered if experience in the first two one would have helped. I've also played Incubation in full in the past but the extension never appeared in the stores I go to.
My favorite moment was Ezri.
I accidentally came across GOG while looking for a place to purchase, of all things, M.A.X. that would work on a new (2010) computer system. Imagine my delight when I found that ALL games on GOG were DRM free! Every game that I have purchased on GOG I own already on disk, but have purchased them again to support GOG and it's no DRM philosophy. Viva GOG!

I'm joining you as italian translator :D
Its probably a tie for me between signing up and getting my first games on July 10th 2012 or the Insomnia sale.

And the narcissism: "look at me... look at me!"
Things you should do in the future: Linux Support

or barring that, games that have a Linux executable should have that included as an unsupported "extra"

Elenarie: Trolling this place is always fun. :p
I can tell you it's not fun for anyone else.

It's sad to hear you've had so many problems. I've installed GOG games on two different systems and had had little problems, not more so than with Steam and less than in PC gaming in general. Sounds like you have been very unlucky.
Congratulations to you guys, GOG has been my favorite webshop since I discovered it back in 2009. It is hard to pin down a favorite moment, as there has been many: finding games I have been trying to track down available in your shop (such as QFG 5), finally getting a working version of a an old favorite I just couldn't get running on Windows XP/7 (Interstate 76), discovering hidden gems I had never tried (e.g. The Guild, King of Dragon Pass, Disciples 2).

But if I had to pick, it would have to be the discovery of the shop itself. It was bound to be my favorite from the beginning, not just for the games, but for the ideals on which it was founded. GOG is a shop by gamers, for gamers, and that is what makes it great. Don't ever change that. :)

Just keep your business philosophy intact and we'll still be here five years from now... or fifty.
