If you preordered Botanicula on GOG.com or have been paying attention to this quirky adventure game, you very probably heard all of the noise around the Humble Botanicula Debut and how some users were left rather unhappy about paying $8.99 for a preorder of the game while people who bought it on day one could pay whatever they wanted for it and they got more goodies than the GOG.com preorder provided.

This left an unsurprisingly sour taste in some gamers’ mouths, and we were just as surprised by the launch of the Humble Botanicula Debut as anyone else was. As soon as we saw the bundle, we reached out to the guys at Amanita about providing our users with something in return for their preorders; we got them to agree to give us a number of goodies from the bundle, and we’re giving you and every other user who bought the game before 12:00 GMT on the 20th of April will receive a few things. Everyone who bought Botanicula before we published this news will automatically be getting Machinarium to your shelf on Monday, and we’ll be emailing all of those purchasers with links where they can download the full soundtrack and a special artbook of Botanicula designs and character sketches.

Finally, we wanted to give you guys something that you couldn’t get in the Humble Bundle to make sure that you didn’t feel like you got a raw deal. To that end, courtesy of our fine friends at CDP RED, we’re happy to let you know that we’re also giving you and everyone else who already bought Botanicula a free copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut! This game will also be on your shelf on Monday, so look for it then.

It seems like the real reason he wants a refund is to stop money going to Amanita. Also he already had the two free games...
He will still buy the bundle... no matter that Amanita screwed GOG... that is the part I don't like...

He might very well give it all to charity, that way he'll get the game and Amanita get nothing (except another mark on their "sales" tally).

I don't think he's trying to screw GOG, I think he's trying to screw Amanita by getting their game but not giving them any money.

He should buy the bundle for $3, give it all to charity and then spend the other $6 of his refund on a GOG with nothing to do with Amanita. How's that?

Argh! More bonuses to the Humble Bundle and we, who preordered on GOG get nothing :(

Please GOG, can you please get Amanita to give you all the Botanicula bonuses from Humble Bundle and add them to the GOG release?

It saddens me my friend paid $1 to get Machinarium, Botanicula and Samorost 2 with their complete soundtracks and now with the Botanicula art book, Botanicula maps, Hu album, Zorya album, and much more!

Plus, all the extras that come with the games on here, TW1 has LOTS of extras and stuff with it, outshining the stuff in the bundle.

No mate it is anoying that they pick GOG team after they give Machinarium & Witcher to them... and they didn't have to give them anything at all...

Of course GOG owe nothing to amanita, and have compensated the people that bought botanicula here handsomely.

You are doing a good job standing up for their generosity, thats what i meant. I just pictured you as a guard dog for some reason, no disrespect.

I've already had Witcher 1 before and already bought Machinarium twice: on Impulse (during Stardock days) and with Humble Indie Bundle #3. So apart from the Soundtrack and the Artbook I didn't get anything special...

But I feel both the Botanicula Soundtrack and the Artbook should be part of all GOG Botanicula purchases independently, when they were bought. Having only the "Demo" soundtrack on GOG is against the GOG policy to have the most complete game releases. There is no reason to not include the whole soundtrack with the game when you can purchase it for just $0.01 on Humble Bundle.

BTW: I've just bough the Humble Botanicula Debut to get all the goodies...

And by what is GOG obligated to do that? Amanita Design screwed up... GOG is not obligated to cover their sh*t. The whole tone you are using is like that GOG screw you in some way ;)

Don't get me wrong I feel your pain about this... but GOG are not the guys to fix this. Amanita must put their whole package for Botanicula here the moment they screwed up and not only for Pre-orders but for future buyers of the game.

I'm sorry if it feels that way. I'm very happy with GOG and how they handled the situation.

I just wanted to express my discontent, how Amanita completely ignores us, who preordered their game. I was hoping GOG is able to raise some pressure on Amanita to give GOG all the goodies they are giving to Humble Bundle.
