If you preordered Botanicula on GOG.com or have been paying attention to this quirky adventure game, you very probably heard all of the noise around the Humble Botanicula Debut and how some users were left rather unhappy about paying $8.99 for a preorder of the game while people who bought it on day one could pay whatever they wanted for it and they got more goodies than the GOG.com preorder provided.

This left an unsurprisingly sour taste in some gamers’ mouths, and we were just as surprised by the launch of the Humble Botanicula Debut as anyone else was. As soon as we saw the bundle, we reached out to the guys at Amanita about providing our users with something in return for their preorders; we got them to agree to give us a number of goodies from the bundle, and we’re giving you and every other user who bought the game before 12:00 GMT on the 20th of April will receive a few things. Everyone who bought Botanicula before we published this news will automatically be getting Machinarium to your shelf on Monday, and we’ll be emailing all of those purchasers with links where they can download the full soundtrack and a special artbook of Botanicula designs and character sketches.

Finally, we wanted to give you guys something that you couldn’t get in the Humble Bundle to make sure that you didn’t feel like you got a raw deal. To that end, courtesy of our fine friends at CDP RED, we’re happy to let you know that we’re also giving you and everyone else who already bought Botanicula a free copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut! This game will also be on your shelf on Monday, so look for it then.

At GOG.com, we’ll never knowingly disappoint you, and while this preorder mishap may have made you a little unhappy, we hope that you enjoy Botanicula--it’s a fantastic game and many of us here at the office are fans--and, if you’d like to say “thanks!” to our pals at CDP RED, check out The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition, available right now at your favorite DRM-free game store, GOG.com.

Have a great weekend!

Gog, you will continue to be my #1 choice in purchases for games, period, because of this type of dedication to customers.
GOG's team really is incredibly lovable.
I really appreciate the gifts. It's a very nice gesture. Unfortunately I already own Machinarium and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. Oh well.
I've finished Botanicula yesterday and I'm incredibly pleased with both the game and GOG's customer service. Thanks a lot! :)
I have no real interest in this game, but what I read about what GOG has done for its customers. I have to say you guys at GOG are the real deal. Way to go, GOG you have made an old gamer very happy seeing the level of greatness you are made of. Keep it up!
Now, THIS is how you should treat you customers!!!!!!

Kudos to you all GOG!!!!
GOG and Amanita - thanks for Machinarium.
Big thanks for GOG / CD-ACTION / Armita!
My latest post was a rather negative one.
I applaud the compensation by Gog and Amanita for poor marketing by Amanita design.
I understand that The Witcher 1 was chosen as quick compensation, because CDPR and GOG are extremely close partners ;-) and no other partner would be able to decide quickly enough. For Windows users the combination of The Witcher and the charming game Machinarium is a great deal. As a loyal Humble Indie customer, I already have Machinarium.
Still, I regret buying this through GOG, because my primary platform is not Windows.
Bringing out a generic Linux and Mac installer for both the DOSBoxed/ Scumm games would provide the 2595+ voters for Linux support with another incentive to go for GOG instead of Desura. Just a generic X-Windows(and thus distribution neutral) wrapper would do. Many new indie games (espescially those currently offered through Humble Indie Bundle and Desura) are cross-platform. On top of that, there are a few games out there, (NWN comes to mind) which are already in the GOG catalogue.Just something to consider for GOG.

Thank you GOG.com, we loved the game and Machinarium is one of my favorite all times.
GOG, you guys are absolutely awesome. You guys truly do care about your customers and understand your customers at that intimate level that exist between gamers. It's your actions like these that leave me jaw-dropped. If I wanted to donate money to you to help keep you guys in business, how would I do that. I buy your games already, but I have no qualms providing you donations to ensure you guys are able to maintain this quality of customer service and low-price gaming filled with incredible content. Please, provide us a link or something so we can send our appreciation to you, GOG. Thank you for all you do.
Has anyone who preordered Bontanicula but already owns Machinarium and The Witcher received a response from support yet?
