If you preordered Botanicula on GOG.com or have been paying attention to this quirky adventure game, you very probably heard all of the noise around the Humble Botanicula Debut and how some users were left rather unhappy about paying $8.99 for a preorder of the game while people who bought it on day one could pay whatever they wanted for it and they got more goodies than the GOG.com preorder provided.

This left an unsurprisingly sour taste in some gamers’ mouths, and we were just as surprised by the launch of the Humble Botanicula Debut as anyone else was. As soon as we saw the bundle, we reached out to the guys at Amanita about providing our users with something in return for their preorders; we got them to agree to give us a number of goodies from the bundle, and we’re giving you and every other user who bought the game before 12:00 GMT on the 20th of April will receive a few things. Everyone who bought Botanicula before we published this news will automatically be getting Machinarium to your shelf on Monday, and we’ll be emailing all of those purchasers with links where they can download the full soundtrack and a special artbook of Botanicula designs and character sketches.

Finally, we wanted to give you guys something that you couldn’t get in the Humble Bundle to make sure that you didn’t feel like you got a raw deal. To that end, courtesy of our fine friends at CDP RED, we’re happy to let you know that we’re also giving you and everyone else who already bought Botanicula a free copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut! This game will also be on your shelf on Monday, so look for it then.

At GOG.com, we’ll never knowingly disappoint you, and while this preorder mishap may have made you a little unhappy, we hope that you enjoy Botanicula--it’s a fantastic game and many of us here at the office are fans--and, if you’d like to say “thanks!” to our pals at CDP RED, check out The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition, available right now at your favorite DRM-free game store, GOG.com.

Have a great weekend!

TheEnigmaticT: The email will probably take a little while; we're also sending out all of the emails for the weekend sale. If you don't see anything in your inbox by Monday, contact Support and they will get you sorted. ;)
Ah, cool. Thanks for the reply! :)

The whole thing is a little disappointing in that it makes the supposedly sympathethic indie devs from Amanita look bad, even if they probably meant to do good, but it's another opportunity for GOG to prove how awesome they are and how much they care about good customer relations. Kudos for that!

GoG rocks!
I have both of them myself.

You'd expect GOG to reward all customers with the same content, so we should be allowed to gift The Witcher and Machinarium to someone else.
I can't believe you GoG! Amazing!

I bought it on HB, then remembered it being on GoG. I thought, "wtf Amanita?". Sure enough, GoG realized, and fixed a problem that wasn't even their fault.

I will continue to tell all my friends about this site, this is simply amazing....
Thanks GOG!

I'm going to love that artbook! :D

I already have the soundtrack, The Witcher (on GOG), and Machinarium (I own it probably around 4 times over! XD), but I am very gratious for the sentiment.

Man I love you guys, you are the best! :D
You guys are ace.
wow.. gog.com makes everything so cool.. its like having a personal gaming assistant who arranges everything just to make you happy :D
Let me chime in and praise GOG for being awesome :)

I don't mind that I paid the full price for Botanicula as I absolutely love Amanita Design and own all their games (several times), nevertheless, I would be happy about a little extra as I too own the Witcher and Machinarium.
Who doesn't like gifts?
The soundtrack and the artbook are a very sweet addition.
Thanks GOG!
Leave it to GOG to clean up another company's mess.

Amanita should be thanking GOG profusely for handling this so well. Have those guys even apologized for this poor tactical behavior?
Great to see GoG handling this situation like only GoG can: with respect for its community and customers and meaningful freebies to boot! You people are seriously the best, I hope Amanita Design learns its lesson from this and does not create such a mess again.
...suddenly, this day is full of win. How so?

Well, I checked the bundles I bought and it turns out I have Avadon on Windows!
(when did that happen? did I fail basic reading comprehension?)

...crap, I paid $8 for the Android bundle because "meh, phone games, and I don't have a tablet anyway". I will make it up to Spiderweb.
For the first time in my life, I'm disappointed to not have been cheated by a game developer. Kudos to you Gog guys for going above and beyond even though you were as much a party to getting screwed as anyone.
maybe change topic title to "gift to botanicula preorders" ?
Gog is awesome as always in a tough situation.. but topic title did psyche me out when i first saw it.
Yes! Two games I already own! Woohoo! =P (at least Machinarium will be added to my shelf then)

*shrug* Alright, I'm not really bothered by that. It's still a very nice gesture of GOG, especially seeing that they had no obligation to do any of this. I'm still a little miffed at Amanita for pulling this spectacularly dumb stunt, but it's not worth quibbing about for me.
