If you preordered Botanicula on GOG.com or have been paying attention to this quirky adventure game, you very probably heard all of the noise around the Humble Botanicula Debut and how some users were left rather unhappy about paying $8.99 for a preorder of the game while people who bought it on day one could pay whatever they wanted for it and they got more goodies than the GOG.com preorder provided.

This left an unsurprisingly sour taste in some gamers’ mouths, and we were just as surprised by the launch of the Humble Botanicula Debut as anyone else was. As soon as we saw the bundle, we reached out to the guys at Amanita about providing our users with something in return for their preorders; we got them to agree to give us a number of goodies from the bundle, and we’re giving you and every other user who bought the game before 12:00 GMT on the 20th of April will receive a few things. Everyone who bought Botanicula before we published this news will automatically be getting Machinarium to your shelf on Monday, and we’ll be emailing all of those purchasers with links where they can download the full soundtrack and a special artbook of Botanicula designs and character sketches.

Finally, we wanted to give you guys something that you couldn’t get in the Humble Bundle to make sure that you didn’t feel like you got a raw deal. To that end, courtesy of our fine friends at CDP RED, we’re happy to let you know that we’re also giving you and everyone else who already bought Botanicula a free copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut! This game will also be on your shelf on Monday, so look for it then.

At GOG.com, we’ll never knowingly disappoint you, and while this preorder mishap may have made you a little unhappy, we hope that you enjoy Botanicula--it’s a fantastic game and many of us here at the office are fans--and, if you’d like to say “thanks!” to our pals at CDP RED, check out The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition, available right now at your favorite DRM-free game store, GOG.com.

Have a great weekend!

cycyx: Yes, Amanita Design did a curious thing here, but I _still_ have one question.
For once, could you please also ask Amanita if you could offer the Linux version of the game?
I mean this strange deal isn't your fault, you're doing your best here, but for people who already own all the gifts, this still leave a bitter taste in the mouth.

I really think Amanita should let you distribute all the versions of their games...
You can still buy the bundle for a mere dollar (or even less) for the linux versions...
Great gift, GOG! :)
Too bad I already have Witcher here on GOG.com (bought it after activating my backup copy of Witcher 2, although I already have retail and Steam versions). Could you make this free copy giftable? Pretty please? :)
All's well that ends well, I guess.
Good job, gog. That was a swift and satisfying reaction to a issue beyond your control.

I kind of pity Amanita now, sure, they fscked up, sure, they apologized, but that still has to be a nightmarish situation to be in.

Also, obligatory tongue-in-cheek comment: I think I want a counter on my gog account page for just how many copies of the Witcher - free or otherwise - I have amassed by now. ;D
I did pre-order, and I am very angry with Amanita Design for this incredibly stupid stunt. They should have made it a bundle exclusive and not screwed GOG on the pre-order. Now GOG is left holding the bag. As for me, I already have the extras GOG is offering and I have contacted support, we'll see what happens. At this point I would rather just have a refund and buy the bundle, but if so you can bet Amanita Design will not be getting any of the proceeds from my order.

Mjauv: Hehe, oh the irony. I just bought The Witcher a couple of days ago...
Unfortunately, I have the same situation. I preordered Botanicula and few days later I bought The Witcher.

YaTEdiGo: But even i didnt ordered Bonaticula just because i´m not interested on it, i will like o give you just one counsel, give a second option to the guys that already own THE WITCHER, will not be a bad thing added to the good actions you already did for solve this issue.
This is actually not a bad idea ;).

I have such love for you guys, you do business like no other game related company out there. Keep up the good work, the sky is not the limit if you continue like this.

Leroux: Were the e-mails with the links to the bonus stuff sent already or might it still take a while for them to reach every single one of us? I didn't receive an e-mail yet, but I'm not sure whether I'm in the target group, as I didn't pre-order but I bought the game here before April 20th - and according to the newspost that should let me benefit of the deal, too? I don't need the giveaway games and soundtrack but I'd really like the artbook.
The email will probably take a little while; we're also sending out all of the emails for the weekend sale. If you don't see anything in your inbox by Monday, contact Support and they will get you sorted. ;)
Awesome job guys. This is what great customer service looks like.
Holy cow!
I don't own Botanicula but... WOW!
GOG didn't do anything wrong and still they "fixed the problem" nonetheless.
Awesome!

GOG, you're the best. And that's why we all love you.
Keep up the good work. You guys never fail to impress me.

Cheers!
Thanks GOG.com. You are a great company and put other DRM riddled, "treat the user as a criminal", companies to shame.

Of course, but it's just for the linux version of botanicula: I already own every thing else.
It's would just be a nice thing to see the first linux games on GOG.

And I really need to buy less games... :p
Thanks. GOG is amazing! From now on you are my primary game source.
What if someone wanted to buy Botanicula for this particular offer? Like me? :)

It would be better to have a special weekend package for example, it would be fair for everyone, and it would oppose HIB that way. Although I guess that comes as a nice surprise for all current Botanicula owners who pre-ordered it on GOG, I would be glad to have the option to purchase the package now, too.

More customers - more support for the developers, right?
Nice move guys.

No. Not every time somebody gives something for free your entitled to get that for free also.

There's nothing unfair here.

Buy The Witcher for 4.99 and then buy Botanicula on HB for 5.00 and you should be satisfied.

Sorry for jumping on you in particular, but I needed to write this :P
