I don't care that they changed their name, everyone I know still calls them "Good Old Games" - saying 'Gog' just sounds stupid, if you actually speak words to another human being.

Gee, that's harsh. Oh well.
Can't wait for Baldur's Gate enhanced or Avernum games on here (well the last 3 or so). I see geneforge made it so I have hope. Also like to see torchlight 2 which may actually be the first pre-order if it comes here. I usually wait for a LOT of reviews & user reviews before anyone gets my money (you can add a gog.com requirement these days too, reviews saved me from wasting on Diablo3). But I believe in the torchlight guys (they made Diablo1-2 if memory serves) if it lands on gog I'll buy. I'd like to see fate games also.

I'm all for "enhanced" editions of old classics too. I'd like to see some kickstarter wizardy updates (revive sirtech stuff!). Surely sirtech stuff could be bought and updated cheaply? Story already there, just need grimrock type guys to get the graphics/voice in there and boom. Success :) I'll buy any of these even though I'll likely not have time to play for another 6 months..LOL. I'm pretty much just going to quit other game companies/sites (steam never got a dime) and support GOG from xmas on out. If your game isn't on gog, you'll be lucky to ever get a dime from me in the future (ok, if your game is drm free you have a chance direct, but rather just see it on gog). I care not about downloaders either (just fyi - but realize it's use for some). I'll get my own downloads/patches as needed. Just more useful info I hope as this was as survey :) Some games like diablo 2 patches change the whole game mechanics. I'd rather have those separate from "bug fixes" or a checkbox to change old play vs. new (some get this already) and still apply fixes. Anyway, thanks for existing gog. :)
At the end of the survey, past the last question "Any Comments?" is a button. The button is [Back to frontpage].

If you click this button (natural action to click the button after the last input field) the survey is not submitted. If you go back, the stupid javascript erases all the input fields. \

UI Failure.

:-(
I can't see anything in relation to the privacy of my answers or the use of the collected data in this announcement...

toma00: just forgot to request at the survey,I wanna add "revival of the request section" .That function was very useful as easy to put a new title that I wish to have in GOG,also I could view what titles are requested by other people and it's so direct way between GOG team and us.
The request section has already been back for a while, actually. First go to your account, and then go to the "Community" tab. The wishlist is on a blue section to the top right. :)
For my 2 cents on the computer question....

If you go to hardware store/computer shop today, you can buy very roughly 3 different kinds of computers. Lets clasify them as low-end, mid range and high end. Low-end computers are mostly sought after as office computers and media centers. They are cheap, and they get old fast. Mid-end computers are what most people pick up including most gamers. They cost around 1500 $ and will be able to play any game released today with top settings. With minor upgrades they will be quite useful and up-to-date for 3-5 years. The high end are what people with a lot of money go for. They can have double graphic cards, produce a lot of heat, have enthusasist level overclocking features and what not.

The point here is, if you buy a high-end pc today, 2 years later, it will have around the same technology with a mid-level one. Same argument will most probably hold true for mid-low range comparison as well. Thus I do not understand the value of asking for when we bought our computers.
As a few others have noted, the survey may give you a non complete view from your users due to the way it was structured (only one choice out of a few in many sections etc). It might have been more inclusive if it had included the ability to 'tick' any option and rate it on a scale (1-10) of importance?

Anyway whatever my overall survey tells you these are the reasons i use your DD system over any other:

1. No DRM (i don't use steam for that reason).
2. Ability to fully control and 'own' my games once i have paid you for them (again systems like Steam/Origin etc all fail in this task).
3. Ease of use of your DD system.

I understand the need for low prices for some regions of the world and on that you are the fairest priced DD system for the global community, however i often feel i pay you too little for your games! So i prefer not to buy when on sale. I feel you and the devs that chose to use your amazing system deserve more money, not less :)

Alliser: I understand why you prefer the original UK version, but for me those versions are only more interesting when a) the german version is different/cutted or b) there is a lot of spoken audio files which I prefer also in the original (english) way then in a (mostly) much lamer german one.

I hope I could make my point clear.

Greetings

Alliser
Usually I prefer(!) original games, as far as translation doesn't provide enhancements, but nevertheless I embrace the idea of having different language options, too. :)

- some games indeed have better puns/speakers/actors in the translated version than in the original one!
- some of us have family and my little boys hearts will break if GOG releases e.g. discworld games and they won't understand any word ^^
- when grown a bit they might use games to improve their skills in other languages...
- there are definitively many people on earth who only understand their mother tongue or just speak the language of an original game a little bit, but not well enough to follow a more complicated story line..
- (And sometimes it is just but quite funny to compare one language version to the others! ^^)
So I think it would be nice to have (all) games in all different language versions they were sold as (if so).
Possibly with optional language files in the bonus content section, which may cause some troubles for lesser skilled PC users - or easier, if you purchase a game in one language you may download and play the other versions as well.
Oh I didn't noticed it as I haven't been there for ages!
Thanks a lot!

I think the point of the question was to see where their customer base is on the level of technology. For example, if 80% of GOG shoppers can't even run Crysis 3 with its DirectX 15 requirements (kidding), then there is little point to fight with EA to rip out their DRM "enhancements" (enhancements to my frustration) just to sell it on GOG.

Chances are if you bought a pc recently, you stay up on tech. if its been a few years, you're content with what you got and don't have high perf requirements (in general).

I built a jacked rig for much less than that $1500 mid-level estimate. Granted i tinker while others aren't interested (which is ok). However, if my top-of-the-line-ish computer system takes 2 years to become mid-level, and then this mid-level machine takes 3-5 years to become obsolete, that's 5-7 years of use i'm getting out of a few hundred bucks initial extra payout. not to mention i won't have to do any minor upgrades because i already bought "the best" up front, outside of a video card perhaps. I guess I am either justifying my waste of a high end machine purchase (according to your logic), or pointing out the return on investment for the high end hardware.

Generalizations are rough things. If you want to classify (like I tired) hundereds of different PCs in 3 catagories you will be bound to misunderstood. Lets talk parts. Graphic card companies usually push a new top graphic card every 3-6 months and usually with prices above 500 $. And when that is in the market, lets say a month than reduced or modified versions that are cheaper start to come out. The point here is (and on my previous post was) that top graphic card, won't be top in 6months, but it will be still running all the games at top settings and resolution in 3 years. In the example you have given, you can
play Crysis 3 (why not 5? :) ) at higest setting but not with DX 15
Back to the survey, The whole point I am trying to make is, and I believe you agree as well; "Years does not represent the technology level of a computer."
No automatic e-mail confirmation ... well I hope I typed my e-mail address in right :)
Im also wondering if I typed my email correctly.
Hmm... with the latest promo, my slot for the amount of games I have bought from GOG changed to 50+. Now I feel like I lied on the survey. :P
