So I logged in to the game to see how the MP works (I know Sachys, I said evening, but...this was more interesting than work so....(I decided to work at home today so please spare me the look!)) Against the assumption, I'm actually not a Worms Armageddon veteran at all, I didn't even have the game yet an hour ago. It's Worms Reloaded that I've spent most of my time on.

So anyway, apparently matchmaking is a lot different in W:A than it is in W:R. In W:R you simply choose a scheme and hit Create a Lobby, and then you simply wait. Here, it's much more complicated because players apparently connect directly to the host's IP. Now, for some reason I couldn't make my lobby work - it might be because I'm using a router and I would need to do some port forwarding, but after browsing the internet I came to the conclusion that it's not possible with the model I have. Then again, I was able to join some random guy's game...I'm really not the expert here. But anyway, here's a few options to matchmaking that should work at least in theory:

Direct connecting (Joining).
- 1st screen (main menu): Press the lower left button (play over local area network or internet)
- 2nd screen: first of all, choose your nickname. Then, type the host's IP address in the bottom bar. The easiest way for the host to figure out their IP is to go here http://www.whatsmyip.org/

Direct connecting (Hosting). Like I said, I couldn't get this to work myself, so maybe I'm doing something wrong: either that or I'm simply unable to host matches.
- After you've input your name on the nickname field, press the button that says Configuration
- Where it says "Your I.P. address" type in your IP address
- Where it says "Port", type 17011 (source: http://worms2d.info/Hosting_Guide)
- Leave everything else as is
- Go back one screen, then press the upper left button (play over local blah blah blaah)
- Give the lobby a name, and a password, then press the Host button
- Let the other players know the lobby is open (via PM, Skype, or whatever)

If direct connecting doesn't work, there was WormNET as well. It mostly looks like a hub of IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channels, but there was an option to host and join games there as well. There was even a helpful bot (at least on the Anything Goes channel), that would create a working lobby for you via simple commands. I can only assume once other people join, it will piss off so that the match can start.

If there are any errors in here, be free to correct me. Like I said, I'm no expert in this TCP IP UDP WTF business and couldn't even get my test lobby to work. Of course, if all else fails, there's always the much more user friendly Worms Reloaded...>;)
