If you're the guy who occasonally buys a game, you won't need that wallet at all, but to us sale-junkies, who react to sales like communists offered bananas, it would be a welcome feature. It makes sales, like the insomnia sale easier to handle, would be a nice feature in some (not all) "refunding" circumstances. Age of Wonders 3 I'm looking at you. It also makes gifting much easier, as you could gift virtual money to someone to buy stuff at gog or you could get refunded, if you are gifted a game you already possess and thus pick another one you don't already own.

Great idea especially during insomnia or big sales.

I agree that auto-buying would be bad for all sorts of reasons. However, auto notification is one of my big wants.

If people want it then this notification could also link directly to the buy page, which combined with a GOG wallet could be an almost auto buy but with the safe guard of requiing confirmation.

Excellent solution to avoid potential issues without a confirmation. I would definitely be behind that!

I wouldn't have anything against an auto-buy feature, just wouldn't use it myself. It would take all the fun of shopping out of the equation. (one of the main reasons why I'm here in the first place)

EDIT: As for "efficiency"...gaming (including buying games) is a hobby and therefor doesn't have to be efficient in any way, shape or form.

And yet many other sites like ShinyLoot, GamersGate and Steam do have such notifications.

Usual reasons include credit card charges (perhaps the bank charges $0.5 on each purchase due to having a retarded policy regarding "foreign transactions"), where the customer would prefer making one larger payment (for transferring to the wallet) to only have said charge once rather than make several payments from the card/bank and thus suffer several extra charges.

Steam is also a gaming platform, you're supposed to login frequently there anyway, they can afford that.

What about all the other sites? Are they doing wrong that they have this feature?

The GOG Wallet is an interesting idea (and one I have gone on and on and on about to GOG for awhile, especially with regard to buying GOG cards in stores).

NOT liking the idea of auto-buy, UNLESS you already had the sufficient funds in your GOG Wallet. For example, let's say you have $10 (or your regional equivalent) in your GOG Wallet. Now, let's say that a game you wanted to buy under the $5 (or regional equivalent) threshold happens to drop below that on a sale. You have the money in your GOG Wallet already so that game is insta-bought.

A nice thing about a GOG wallet would be that it would permit to "buy American money", right now I'm never sure how much a game will end up costing me because the value of national money fluctuate all the time. I've got a lots of small transactions on my card with GOG but I can't see which transaction is which because several games bought at the same U.S. price might end up costing me different amounts in Canadian money.

A GOG wallet would also insure there is no (or less) technical difficulties when it's time to pay.

Try buying ten copies of the same game (i.e. for a giveaway) having to re-enter your CC # for each copy. Now that's tedious!

As far as I recall someone from GOG has already hinted such a feature may be coming. I guess we'll find out on Thursday.
