Elmofongo: How did Neo-Nazism became so Popular in Russia after the staunch Anti-Nazism in the old Soviet Union.

Do the Russian Nazis even read what happened to the Soviets when the German Nazis invaded. Have they not read what happened in Stalingrad, Leningrad, etc.
avatar
Starmaker: First: no, they don't read. Education is crap, especially in the social sciences. (Typically, I'd complain about the sorry state of math, but at least people finish school knowing how to count.)

Second, there are several movements within neo-Nazism, and they conceptualize WW2 Nazism in several distinct ways:
- "Hitler was right in that the strongest race should subjugate others, and Slavs turned out to be the strongest";
- "Hitler was right in that the Aryan race should subjugate others, and Slavs also happen to be Aryan, we would've totally joined forces if not for the commies";
- "Hitler was kind of a dick, peoples of the world should live separately on their ancestral lands, this is Slav land, everyone else gtfo".

Multiculturalism was the first thing to go with the Soviet Union. Name an "ethnic" republic within the Russian Federation (Dagestan, Adygea, Mordovia) and even moderate people would say "the immigrants" should leave Russia and go "back home".
Russia for Russians aperantly :P
More and more government :( I seriously doubt an 11 yearold knows how to follow health and safety regulations (I believe she at least needs to pass some sort of test or something to get licensed.).
Were people/companys own an actual bakery/factory, they have to set up and follow health and safety regulations, and be inspected.
Safe food handling and preparation matter to me. I don't want some itching their private region then handing food.
But, I bet it was for $$ reasons, the government wants their cut of her action. :D

Now, if her families home, had its kitchen renovated and up to code for health and safety and the timely inspection, and she was trained properly in health/safety, then I'm sure you can use your home/kitchen for cooking business. (ps. and you also have to register it as a business, and pay all fees/taxes/irs related stuff too)

I also don't want to see potentially unsafe lemonade stands either. Did those kids wash thier hands after taking a dump and squeezing lemons?
Who knows.

Bureaucracy and incessant law-making and litigation...just what humans need more of.

If you're concerned about the possible health implications of eating her cupcakes, don't eat them! Simple. I'd suggest taking a look into the mass production of the food industry. If you think that anyone cares about what you put into your body besides yourself(health and safety laws, blah blah) you're dreaming.

Wasn't really talking for her specifically, but for all cupcake sellers. And face to face I would ask them some questions regarding how it was prepped before I purchase and the ingridents (allegies).

It is all bad in my eyes, even resturants sell spoiled food and the occasional hockey puck chicken parmesan. Raises fist in anger!

But I wonder, if health and safety were so intent on what it suggests it is, then they probably wouldn't have let them use the stove they had at all because obviously it couldn't cook something hot enough or be contained enough to kill all the germs or cook something long enough to be edible and hot, right?

Oh wait, it's okay to use a regular oven for your own food, but the moment you make cupcakes to sell you need an absurdly expensive license and oven that meets those standards? I'd bet they would overlook those regulations if it were their children/grandchildren making those cupcakes...

Thanks for responding to my post calmly. I realised after I wrote it that it could come across a little aggressively, and my frustration with such laws and litigation arises from the lack of personal responsibility people take for their own well-being(especially our immune systems), and how many stupid laws and regulations exist now. My apologies if this came across as being directed at you, because that was not my intent :)

lol precisely! Just like when I was a child we played in dirt and mud and were grubby little bastards. My how things have changed since I was young. I made a mint selling lemons from our tree as a child. It was one of my first great capitalist ventures (very ironic with the life experiences that have changed my view on life since then) and these days a child would probably get fined or at least reprimanded for selling fruit that hasn't passed quality control measures!

Part of my ire derives from the way medicine is practised in this country(and similarly around to the world) to the extent where if I offer someone medical advice and a plant from my garden, I will be breaking the law if the Therapeutic Goods Association gets its way unless I pay $100,000+ to conduct a "scientific study". Who is behind this? The wonderful pharmaceutical companies who own the majority of over the counter supplements as well. You can't patent a plant so it isn't profitable, and yet our species has a history of herbal medicine that goes back at least 10,000 years. *yells at imaginary drug company executive* Study that motherf...!! lol (and yes I realise that the reason for such regulation is 'quackery' something that exists in all forms of medicine unfortunately)
Ok, as one of Russian citizens i can say this:
"Dont pay any attention". Russian government lately gone to completely crazy histeria. "World dont respect us, then...then..then...we do something like forbidding MasterCard and Visa!". And that they achived? Once they tried to squeeze Visa's money, it just said "ok, goodbye" and now russian govs crying "no, dont go Visa, forgive us!".
It will be absolutely SAME with this new law too. Russian govs just trying to show that they superbrave with shooting in own leg. Not first time, not latest.
There is so called "Crazy Printer" thing in Russia today - officials produce tons of defunct laws about nothing. This is one like that.

Lol, I love how many Russians just don't take their own government seriously, that's the sanest thing to do in some cases, especcially in this one.

Haha, I totally forgot about that, it's hilarious. xD
Yeah, when you hear about another one "superclever law" like "lets forbid financial crisis" or "to ban cats to stomp in the mornings" (FOR REAL) you just...facepalm and move on.

BTW, some specialists already stating, that this law in current form can hurt Russia more then give positive anything, For exampl, "storing personal data only in Russia" forbids to make booking in hotels outside of Russia, use health service and so on so on.
That means, that law which was made is totally not ready for real use and raw as hell, it was adopted JUST to troll companies like Google and force them share russian users data with FSB (KGB 2.0).
I guess it will be edited and updated numerous times later.

That is great to read such a reply, thank you for sharing your perspective :) It reminds me a lot of some of the things our crazy government is currently doing that is representative of a very small section of the community(their financial interests) at the expense of the majority. Australians seem to get angry, drink some alcohol and forget about it, and continue life as best as possible rather than do much though :D

Putin never was a friend of citizens votings in the first place.
http://www.theworldreporter.com/2013/12/putins-russia-steering-back-to-soviet-union.html

If people would have anything to say in Russia, Putin would have been long gone but there isn't even a way to assassinate him, because even if you somehow get through his entire defense network, he'll kill you single handedly with his KGB training, so people just seem to wait until he goes the natural way and this still can be a long time and after him comes the next butch ruthless FSB control freak with the desire for power.

Yes, exactly. One who care can see SIGN just everywhere - official rhetoric (ColdWar like), various laws made to make harder communication and cultiral and other exchange with "west", antiEU propaganda, and so on. In Real Life you can see attempsts to bring back mandatory work duty for stidents, assigned-from-above workplaces, total annihilation of ANY sings of any sort of election, limiting import (even good which cannot be produced here), destruction of all non-government owned banks and so on so on.
I dont thin Putin tries or can revive that old USSR. Its dead, and we have no "communism dreams" here, but he can build some type of chimera with body of USSR and soul of, i dunno, Imperial Royal Russia maybe?

I think he wants to be a real tsar.
Ah, so they made this law alive today (with 2 years delay for real action). As specialist stated. it was maid ignoring possible technologies problem and absolutely ignoring nature of internet. That govs is doing is attempt to build "national border in internet".
