Weclock: I'm going to assume if you wouldn't feel comfortable saying it on the forums, you shouldn't say it on the podcast.

that was pretty much what I was thinking. in which case the occasional fuck or shit or dick is ok. i was worried it would be a bit harsher spoken out loud, but honestly who is interested in GOG that isn't old enough that they're well indoctrinated to foul language? i mean other than rohan, and he's a lost cause already.

I understand, but do you see GOG staff cursing? Nay, you do not.
If you are seriously going to push the podcast on iTunes then I would recommend you leave out the swearing if possible or be prepared to bleep with an editor like Audacity. So many gaming podcasts disappear because when people see the explicit tag they assume it's a bunch of kids swearing about games. Start of clean then when you have a good level of subscribers and later you can become more foul mouthed if you wish.
Hm, okay, excellent feedback. I'm cool with keeping a focus on GOG and relevant topics, my feeling is just that 'relevant' includes pretty much anything that has to do strictly with PC gaming for example (like the Microsoft topic), since most of us are passionate PC gamers that've been with it for ages. Hmm....there's another topic (probably for another show)...thoughts on how PC gaming has evolved over the years. :)
And yeah, as stated, going off topic a bit is fine. Obviously we want a focus but I don't want to be nuts about that. :P
SO, if all is okay, the first show will include the following topics:
DRM/piracy - Why you do, don't or did pirate, GOGs effect on your pirating/non-pirating
Microsoft's return to PC (Fable 3 + a leaked memo indicates they've got more plans)
Games we're playing/looking forward to - Fallout Online, 3DS updates, Bad Company 2, Amnesia, etc.
Latest GOG news/releases -- Freedom Force, E3 stuff (GOG implied we'll see new publisher soon, speculation), evolution of GOG/Question Time/console games, etc.
Possibly we could push the Microsoft thing to the next show, though it's current, so...I'd probably rather push the DRM thing since it's not time sensitive.
The Microsoft thing and piracy/DRM thing and future topics like it I think help to add something to the mix -- I'd rather not have the exact same two or three topics each show, you know? So they act as a wild card. As always, these are just my feelings.
As for swearing, hmm...I don't have any strong feelings either way. I wouldn't mind allowing a bit because it fits with the forum policy. GOG doesn't curse because it's staff...we're users, and users cuss a bit. :P At the same time I understand if people want to keep it clean. I guess I'll wait until tomorrow to see what everybody thinks.
And iTunes...hmm. I'll have to look into publishing there.

Can there be a section talking about how great I am? Suppose other users can get an honourable mention from time to time if they do something cool

If you come on, you can talk about how great you are. :P
I'm sure users will come up, stories from the forums and IRC, etc.

I don't want to blow my own trumpet, its far more fun to get other people to do it for me
Better for my back as well to not bend so far

Me too!

Cook: just need to know if the show fulfills our high standards ;)

Vagabond: My iron-fist will make this so.
With that said, I say we cut out everything non-GOG related. So, for the topics that chautemoc listed, the ones I'd consider suitable for the GOGCast would be these:
DRM/Piracy
Latest GOG news/releases
Games we're playing
The GOGCast shouldn't be an all-encompassing topic show. It's a podcast about GOG. We could probably interweave the other topics into the discussion, but as a focus in the show, I'd hesitate to include those.
Plus, to be spotlighted by GOG, GOG has to be the focus. Not the gaming scene in general.

That would be a short podcast then.
Er, yeah, I forgot to address it needing to be all about GOG thing. I don't think it does. It never was from the start and GOG has said they would promote it if it was good. But yeah, I agree with capfitz about it needing that sort of focus -- tallking about things most GOGers would be interested in and not trying to be like every other gaming podcast.

Your only missing one thing.
alymay:Spiders?
me:No not spiders.
koboldcaptaindeath:Why do they have so few killer traps in rpgs and why so few rpgs now a days?
me:we will put that under the maybe pile.
What you need to add is why they have not made a game about being a evil necromancer or let you play as one in ages.[at least not one that i know of] the last games i call recall that comes close to that is-
-warlords battlecry3 and dominions 3.

Hey!

Aliasalpha: I only skimmed your post but I get the gist that you're volunteering for an interview of some sort...
avatar
chautemoc: Regarding staff interview, that would be great if you wanted to pop on now and again, assuming all goes well. :)

Need to discuss it internally, listen to your first episode, but showing up on your podcast and answering some questions is definitely something we're considering doing :)

Cook: just need to know if the show fulfills our high standards ;)

Delixe: No pressure then.

Now, that's rude :(

We could have two feeds, one with an Explicit tag and the other that's clean.

You got that the wrong way around. I meant there IS pressure on the podcast ;)

Or you can allow everyone to swear like a trooper but like I said edit it out with a bleep. Or some other amusing thing like the sound of a donkey or even "It's a me Mario"
