OK, so on GOG's front page it says "TopWare Pack up to 50% off". Get 10 great games for only $31.90 and save $32.00.", right? So I click on the picture and it puts everything in my cart (as expected). I already own Septerra Core, so that is grey out and not part of my total. The cart says: "$28.91 (you save $29.00)".
We're still cool. Ok, but I own Two Worlds (not from GOG. Got it off eBay), so I don't want that game. I uncheckmark it and now my cart says: "$33.52 (you save $14.40)". WTF!?!? This can't be right. In my cart I have Earth 2140 $5.99, Earth 2150 $5.99, Earth 2160 $5.99, Enclave $5.99, Gorky 17 $5.99, Jack Orlando $5.99, Jagged Alliance 2 $5.99, and Knights and Merchants $5.99. The total for all of that is ~$48. Half of that is ~$24. Granted the promo from GOG's main page says "up to 50% off", but if this is the case, they are paying me to buy a game I already have. IT doesn't make sense!!!
Is this an error or how it's supposed to work?

50% off only applies if you get all missing games at once. Otherwise, it's 30% off, as it's stated in the news article.

Gotcha. I didn't see the news article until after I posted. But, does this NOT make sense? I bought Septerra Core from GOG awhile back, even so, I still get the 50% on all the rest of the titles. However, if I choose to not include another game I bought somewhere else, the price goes UP? I'm OK with GOG paying me to buy their games I suppose, but it just doesn't make any sense to me. Plus I don't remember it being this way with any of their other deals (could have been 'cause I didn't de-select anything; don't remember). At any rate, I don't have the expansions for Two Worlds, so I might as well get the whole kit-and-kaboodle now. Someone from GOG might want to re-evaluate this though. But like I said, it doesn't matter. I'll pay the lesser amount and get more ;). Thanks GOG!
(BTW, the reason I posted was it felt dishonest and if it was in error I felt obligated to report it. If it's' by design, I'm alright with it.)
They've made it so it's cheaper to buy the whole lot than buy about two thirds of the titles.
Now, the cynic in me thinks that this is partly all about giving sales figures a bit of a boost. Especially seeing as this has been common practise across a number of weekend promos. It's clearly not at the publisher's insistence.
But for whatever reason it's like it is, that's the way it is. I think their promos still need some work though.
They've had a lot of this type of promos where you get the better deal if you buy all games you don't already own from GOG (example: the Heroes of Might and Magic promo a way back). The last two or three promos weren't this way though.
(Anonymous because I'm not on my own computer, and I didn't bother logging in)

I think that is what threw me at first, but it's all good. I got another copy of Two Worlds w/ the expansions that I didn't have (didn't even know it had expansion, so WooHoo!!!).
This is why you should read the promo details. :)

I think it is set up this way for customers like me. I don't really care about 1/2 of the titles in the pack, but since they only cost a little extra, I bought the entire thing just for completeness. When all the games in the pack are good they sell themselves. When some aren't as good, having an extra 20% off of the games that are good is what is selling pack.
I'm fine with this practice, but I prefer the sale to be across the board as a rule.

Yeah, completely agreed. I'm definitely more likely to grab something from a sale if I'm getting the full discount. I did grab a pack, but only because so much of it was the kind of thing I thought I'd like and generally it represented a\ bit of a genre gap in my collection.
