Austrobogulator: But seriously, I recommend Septerra Core (don't forget to use the skip battle cheat :P)
Not being jRPG fan, I still agree - good, enjoyable game. When you can skip battles, it plays as a simple adventure game :)

AFnord: Pathologic Interesting mix of gameplays. Part shooter, part survival horror, part adventure game, part something completely different, this is one of those games that really defies classification. It is interesting & odd (like all games by Ice-pick Lodge). Some bugs & a rather poor translation does pull it down a little though.
Well worth playing. Buy it, play it, get yourself Void, await Knock-knock from IPL.

Momo1991: Adventure lovers! Has anyone played the Atlantis series? I've looked them forever but not sure if they're any good... Input would be welcomed ;-)
Totally not my type of adventure (I like plot-oriented, mood-heavy games with mixture of logical and abstract puzzles). If you like logic \ puzzle oriented games (like Myst or 7th Guest \ 11th Hour) - go and grab it!
I already have 7/11 and the original Myst but I may pick up Riven and URU - I loved those except for needing the friggin discs!
Omg i almost forgot about these classics one must have

settlers 3
The nomad soul
Urban chaos

all 3 are awesome and are not difficult to get into

FAButzke: Can you describe to me why Alan Wake is great? I don't mean to be dickish, really. I WANTED to like this game but I couldn't. I've played it from start to finish but, from chapter 3 and onwards I was forcing myself thru it (hoping it would bring something new to make it worth my while) and not having any enjoyment out of it.

So much in fact that I did not even play American Nightmare (but I've played the two extra chapters from the original).

DProject: Besides the obvious argument, the low, low price, Alan Wake had certain moments that kept it interesting for me, even if overall it wasn't as great as I predicted. Without trying to spoil anything, these moments include the bar, the concert and the part where the Old Gods ballad starts playing (mainly because the song was just that good imo)

Perhaps people consider the atmosphere the best part in the game, even if the actual gameplay and/or plot left them cold, such in my case.
Thanks. I think the story + repetitive gameplay was the deal breaker for me. I could not get into the story and all I could get out of the gameplay was a simplified Max Payne experience (even the nordic references are there).

I loved Atlantis 1 and I have been waiting for 2 and 3 to go on sale.

One thing I really liked about Atlantis 1 is the soundtrack which is one of the best I have ever heard. The story is ok just because you can see where the story was going. Oh there are 2 or 3 hard puzzles

I've been reading the thread where about all the crashes - do you know if GOG ever fixed the issues?

I believe the game crashed once but I could get passed that area the next time I played.
I would like to recommend you Legend of Grimrock :-) The best game I played last year!
I wouldn't be myself not leaving this link here :)
Adventure lovers, horror lovers, homegrown psychologists and psychology enthusiasts, just get it, wait till the night and indulge yourself.
The Gabriel Knight trilogy.

Amazing storytelling, great characters, interesting puzzles, and awesome music. Best adventure games ever made in my opinion.
Hey Nov! *waves*

Everybody, of the games on sale, which games do you recommend that you think WON'T be in bundles anytime soon? I must admit I've become quite spoiled by bundles, paying a dollar for 5-10 games, even if some of them are crap. Combine this with being poor and now spending $3 for a single game seems "extravagant" (I'm currently leaning towards not buying anything, with the idea they'll appear in bundles at some point). While I myself only prefer games with plot and depth, I'm sure other gogers would appreciate suggestions that aren't likely to appear in bundles.

Apologies if this seems lazy, just wondering which bundle-less gems you would recommend.
Personally I was really happy with my purchases of Enclave and Blade of Darkness, great atmospheric action games with dark fantasy theme. For $2.99 each I'd immediately buy them again, if I didn't own them already. :)

To a slightly lesser extent, but still heartfelt, I can also recommend VTM: Redemption for the same price. It's not Bloodlines, of course, and the linear dungeon crawling can get a bit tedious at times, but story and atmosphere are still very enjoyable, and the tactical combat can be fun, too, if you use the PAUSE key on your keyboard (a function not listed in the official manual because it was introduced by way of the patch, I think; it does make the game quite easy though, for the most part).

Bookmarked the thread! Keep at it guys, maybe I'll discover some new games this way (but on second thought, I'd rather not, as I have enough on my wishlist already xD).

DProject: FTL: Really good. Surprised me even though I'm not usually into these sort of games, or even the setting. Give it a chance.
If you're looking at buying FTL, just know that way too much relies on RNG.
Well, no more guide, guys? We've got so titles on special discount today.
