After I have gotten some very positive feedback from my original thread, where I asked if you are interested in a community tournament, I decided to give this a try. So here it is: The

GOG StarCraft 2 Community Tournament #1

Date: TBA
Time: TBA
Check in: TBA -30 min.

This tournament is organized by and created for the GOG community. Therefore only members of the community are allowed to join. In this tournament all participants fight each other just for fun; there is no prize pool at this point in time. However, the top 3 players of this tournament are qualified for the next tournament automatically (if there will be a next one of course :p). If you do not want to play actively, feel free to spectate ingame!

Due to the small amount of players in this first tournament (we will start with 8 active players), there is no league restriction. That means you can join no matter how good you are. When seeding all players in the grid, I do my best that at least in the first round you get an equal opponent though. Even if you do not own StarCraft 2, you can still participate in this tournament. There is a Starter Edition (demo version) out there, which allowes you to join the game.

All information on this tournament (including the rules) is hold together here:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/18qZCi3A_Yz8rE4Dxgkry3s8T_5T33pma2J10NNC8mIU/edit

Step 1: Organizing the tournament [open]
If you are interested in participating, please let me know by filling out the following form:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGFONzNhZlZDT0dIY0tZdk5aMF9Fa1E6MQ

This form is no sign up yet and it also does not send/include any personal information. It just helps me organizing the tournament by bringing all essential data together. This is necessary in order to find a date where most people can participate or in order to set up a grid where people of the more or less same skill compete with each other.

To those who already filled out this form in the other thread: You do not have to do it again here, of course! :p

Step 2: Sign in [pending]
Not yet available. Start with step 1 first.

Step 3: Check in [pending]
Not yet available. Start with step 1 first.

Step 4: The Grid [pending]
https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1KjjkDqkBmfvpV2sQM2AAy3ZxSqBLyoSEz8Df8ZdMxRE/edit

The grid will be filled up with all participants of this tournament. Sign in (step 2) will be open soon.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here or write me a PM. Other than that, let us look forward to a (hopefully) great community tournament!

Nice, I havent played SC2 but i might watch some of the tournament if i get chance
Sounds like it would be fun, you should stream it for everyone to see (better then relying on replays), pitty I'm really terrible at SC2 currently and I don't have an EU account :(
Does the first signup count?
I've still got a collector's edition here that I never opened, but with Diablo around the corner my Blizzard itch is making it really hard to resist >.<

No point in entering even if I do though, I'd just scream like a little girl when the waves start rolling in while I'm still on my second building xD
I'm sort of interested. I still play Starcraft 2 regularly. The last time I played a 1v1, I was silver league, but that was a while ago. I'm more of a 2v2 guy, and am in Platinum in that.

So I sort of have no idea what my skill level is. 2v2 metagame is so different, especially if you have a team mate who's got your back :p

/edit: forgot to mention, I'm zerg all the way.

Of course you can watch the games (ingame). If you fill up the form above, this makes it easier for me to invite you to the games. Thank you!

I don't know yet if there is a chance for me to stream the games, since I am not that familiar with streaming software. However, if anyone wants to do this part – maybe with also commenting on the games –, feel free to contact me. If you want to participate (skill doesn't matter), you can also join by using the Starter Edition on the EU servers.

Yes, it does. I also mentioned it in the first post. :)

Don't resist, or you will miss a lot of fun. I promise! :)

Don't worry about the skill level: We have players of every level currently, which means there are both complete noobs and skilled players, who are interested in participating. Also I won't seed players in the grid that have very different skill levels, so you will always have the chance to at least advance to the second round. After all, this is a just for fun tournament, so winning is a nice bonus, but playing within this great community should be your main motivation.

No problem, I will take that in mind when seeding players to the grid. We will have an equal opponent for you.

I'm in depending on the date; unfortunately I'll have to play on a Starter account because my main is on the US server.

Edit: I can also stream and somewhat cast the games.

Also, this is me on the NA server.

Heck, I'll join. Been a long, long time since I played any SC2 MP though.

Can you please fill out the form I have linked to in the first post (step 1)? This helps me organizing the tournament and there you also have the chance to specify your favourite date and time.

Playing with the Starter Edition should be no problem in this small tournament, since it offers some maps that are quite useful (eg. Shattered Temple).

If there are enough people interested in watching, then it would be great if you stream (or even better: cast) the games. Do you stream via Twitch.tv or something similar?

No problem. I guess most of us are no pro gamers at all. But that won't affect us having fun competing with each other I guess. So welcome on board! :)

To all who wish to participate or watch the tournament: Please fill out the form in the first post (step 1). This helps me a lot and there you can also specify your favourite date and time. Thank you!

I think the map pool should consist of Starter Edition maps only, so that all players can practice on those maps.

Yes, I make this depend on how many players will join with the Starter Edition. In case it is necessary, we will use those maps that are available to everyone. If in the semi-final or final no Starter Edition player is left, then we can expand the map pool by using all kind of maps.

Filled the form.

I stream via Twitch.tv and I'll cast to the best of my abilities, though it'll most likely be less commentary during my games and more "Oh fuck! OH FUCK! Supply depot! Shit!" xD

That sounds entertaining! I might watch the stream myself. :p
Now if all would agree we to have a 'stream-cheat'-less tournament. :)
