Xelnaga Caverns used to be a GSL map so it is quite good.....

well its probably fine for our usage but I wouldn't call it quite good because GSL formally used it. After all they no longer use it and haven't used it for a long time because they decided it wasn't a good map for professional play.

I mean would you claim Steppes of War and Jungle Basin are good maps because GSL used them once to.
Am I the only one that wants to play on all officially published maps?

It certainly would add a bit more of randomness to every match.

They've removed it because GSL works like that... the reason is not that the map is bad... they've just switched 1 map every season. Ohana is awfull map and they use it this season.

Yes, you can only play as Terran in the Starter Edition. Regarding the maps: The Starter Edition also offers some 2v2 maps, which could be fought on in 1v1, if it is absolutely necessary. But... (see quote below)

At this point in time way more people have filled out the form who own the full version of StarCraft 2. So if the bracket is full of those people, of course we will use official ladder or tournament maps only! Don't worry. :)

Oh, I wasn't just talking about this one, but all SC2 tournaments in general.

Yes, every big tournament uses the complete official map pool. Some do even have their own versions of regular maps.

To all who wish to participate or watch the tournament: Please fill out the form in the first post (step 1). This helps me a lot and there you can also specify your favourite date and time. Thank you!

Short update: Thanks to all who have filled out the form I have linked to in the first post (step 1) so far. We are almost having a concrete date to start the tournament. I will post it here soon.

If there are more out there who wish to participate, please also fill out the form. Thank you!

Just post a reminder when the registration will be almost over, I'm still debating signing up and I'd neither like to commit right now nor find out I was too late ;P.

Those first questions are mostly necessary a) to find a date where most people have time to spare and b) to get an overview on the skill level of everyone. So it is no sign up yet, but a help to organize the tournament. There shouldn't be a situation where diamond plays vs bronze. :) So feel free to take part in this tourney!

Short update: The grid is now online (see first post, step 4).

I know I am not too good at designing something, but this will do quite well I hope. :) Signing in will be possible soon. Then the date will also be fixed.

If you are interested in joining this tournament, please still fill out the short form (step 1). This helps me to find a date where most of you have time to spare and to seed players by their skill level, so that no bronze player has to compete with eg. a platinum player.

You can use Challonge for bracket generation and so on. We've used it before for the ArsTechnica tournament and it's a great free tool.

Yes, I have also seen that service, but I want to add some custom information in the bracket, such as race and league (both with pictures). I think this grid will work fine for this first tournament.
