Piranjade: I agree with the others, it seems like your wireless connector shuts down after not being used for some time. And in contrast to Steam GOG games don't need to connect to the internet.
^
This is most likely the reason.

BSinator: I can assure you I am not trolling, I am just a guy looking for a possible solution to a rather irritating problem.
Nor did I say you do, don't get me wrong.

BSinator: And for the coincidence thing, it surely isn't. When I find I have the internet error, the spot where it shows my wireless internet connection, it shows me an icon which I have never seen until started playing games from GOG.
Like I said: the strangest thing I have ever heard of.
Unfortunately, I don't know, how I could help you further.

Would be the best to contact GOG's support team.

I just cannot imagine, how a GOG game could be the cause for this.

Final question: did you download those games all at once, or at different dates and when exactly occured the problem for the very first time?

And did you download some other program(s) from the internet on the same date, or around the same date.

Oh, and what is this icon showing, you've mentioned?

I downloaded Locomotion on Mar 23 2011 and Alpha Centauri and Capitalism on Dec 29 2012, but I highly doubt that just because I downloaded those two games on the same date means anything.

I didn't download anything else on either of those days.

As for the first time it happened, it happened the day I first downloaded Locomotion.

I wish I could describe the icon that appears, but I need the internet to post this.

BSinator: No, I do not have either of those running at the same time as the game I'm playing from GOG.
My guess is the power management then.

Go into your Device Manager, click the + beside Network Adapters, then right click and pick Properties for your wireless card. The last tab should say Power Management. Under it uncheck the box beside "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

Can't you take a screen shot and post that?

Im guessing you have a second GOG account then?

Not really the point I guess but meh. Has this been going on since march 11? If so why has it taken 2 and a half years for you to try to fix the issue.

Again not really the point but im curios

I will, but it will take about an hour just to get it to appear.

As per your Avatar /Description, you registered to GOG.com on December 2012...so how could you download a game (Locomotion) on March 2011?

Strange coincidence, that the one game that causes so much trouble was the one, you downloaded, before you even were registered here.

Even stranger, that you waited more than two years before you come to the forums and ask about a solution for your problem.

I'm out of here.

Edit: ah, Reaver894 beat me to it.

No, I do not have a second account, only this one.

As for the issue of not saying anything, I was not sure if this could be fixed, so I kept quiet until now.

Titanium: You probably have your wireless set to power saving. It will not reconect if it goes into sleep mode. You should change your power saving plan.
Yep, this was my first thought.
I'm sorry about the misleading information about the Mar 23 2011 thing, I was reading that off the game icon.

But here is a picture of the icon.

since you mentioned wireless and laptop over a hour of gameplay, it gotta be the heat or power saving option

How did you buy a game on your account a year and a half before you joined?

I think he just looked up the wrong information, because even in GOGwiki it says the game was released here on August 9th 2011 …

GOG games don't connect out, so they can't really do much todo with the internet. Actually, a lot of them don't even know there is such a thing.

Do you have the GOG downloader running while you play these games? It seems a strange question, but some people like to run a client even though it's not needed.
