OK first off as we all know.. GOG, you have been a bad boy, Regional Pricing should never have been budged on in the first place... I DON'T LIKE that this was even considered and the fact that you have to be told that ruins ANY apology you care to make.. It's all just damage control now.. I expected better.

BUT HERE'S ONE THING THAT DOES PISS ME OFF.

On your own backtrack GOG, you have stated that you will 'eat the difference'.. and thererfore you seem to think that will make everyone happy.. I am FAR from happy about this situation.

NO... THAT IS NOT A SOLUTION I WOULD WANT... YOUR business plan is the plan I want supported WHEN I DO BUSINESS WITH YOU..... I DO NOT ACCEPT A SITUATION WHERE COMPANYS WHO DO NOT AGREE WITH THE BUSINESS PLAN THAT I WANT SUPPORTED, GETS SPECIAL TREATMENT AND DEALS INSTEAD..

NO........

IF THOSE COMPANIES WILL NOT ACCEDE TO YOUR BUSINESS PLANS, THE BUSINESS PLANS THAT I WANT SUPPORTED.. then I DO NOT want you doing business with them.. or I'm not doing business with you..

Did you honestly think that your proposed 'solution' would be even partially attractive to those who use your service to support the very things that you said you wished to support?... FAIR trade for all with fair business practices.. not some shitty secret individual backdoor deal, which goes against the basic tenants of why I AM HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Companys who will not agreed with the FAIR deal you offer them, under conditions that I feel comfortable supporting.. shouldn't be here in the firsts place.. their games aren't important enough for you to compromise ... your company, your word OR YOUR CUSTOMERS.. and that is what you HAVE done.. you have compromised ME, by lying to me... Stick to your original convictions, or don't.. but if you don't.. you are no longer GOG.
But it is attractive, and not only because I "benefit from US prices". It is attractive because while it still lets GOG partner with people who won't accept the world price distribution, it still puts enough pressure on GOG to make us believe they will do their utmost to avoid that situation from happening.

True, I don't GOG having to "eat" the difference themselves, as nice as it is of them to do so it isn't really fair (for them). That said, it presents them with the choice of whether or not they're willing to release games with regional pricing while giving us the reassurance that they won't do it for just anybody and that they will be putting up a fight for it.

It's a move that really puts my faith back on them.
Wow, lot of "I"s in there.
Not much of a "We" person are you?
I guess you could argue GOG's supporting dev/publishers who choose to go with Regional pricing with their latest move.

Then again, it seems about the best they can do without backtracking to how it was before. This way they can go forward with regional pricing and appease the backlash they got for it, which is what the latest change was focused on, us, the customers.
WAIT!
They introduce regional pricing and the shit hits the fan.
So they get rid of regional pricing....and people are STILL pissed off?

What do you people want!?

When your dad gave you a Ferrari for your 16th birthday did you scream at him that it was the wrong color? :P
It's nice case of "you can't please everyone".
But well... gog want some new games here that much that they are rdy to cover difference from their pocket, I wonder how it turn on the long run.

Did "WE" write it?

Why is it that it's the AMERICAN who doesn't have anything supportive to say about fair trade and non deceptive capitalist policy?

This is the exact problem in microcosm.
How have they lied to you in any way? So basically you're saying their immense efforts to please their consumer base is useless and the only thing that would fix things in your eyes is if they went back in time and never tried to grow their business in the first place. You do realize that they could not survive as a business the way they were going, which is why they were looking to change things. I know there's no pleasing some people, but I mean come on!

I definitely agree that GOG shouldn't be eating costs, but they felt that's what they would need to do in order to get more games here. GOG is not some mega super power that can set their own rules and everyone must abide by them. If those companies do not like their plan, they just won't do business with them. If that keeps happening, GOG goes OUT OF BUSINESS. Is that what you'd prefer?

They lied by going against their written policy..

We're at the point in proceedings where this shouldn't have to be explained

I could never bring a girl to microcosm. Maybe I need to work on my move.

So basically for everyone here.. you don't really care about any of this as long as you get cheaper games...

Well that WAS NOT my overriding motivation when I started to do business with gog.

This is an internet forum... with GOGers... who are PC gamers. It is a trifecta of sense of entitlement.

They were looking to change some policies, so they announced it. Is that lying?
I was thinking if maybe it would be better for GOG to be a premium store, there have been many opportunities I could have bought games cheaper elsewhere but I didn't as here the games are DRM-free.
Look at Apple, BMW, etc. they're all selling stuff others sell too cheaper but these brands haven't got a hard time selling their wares.
If GOG can make themselves a premium brand it also won't have much trouble attracting AAA games/publishers and if GOG doesn't do it maybe Steam will.
