Who else thinks that gog.com should actually start selling new games, much like steam and all the others?
I certainly would prefer buying them on gog than anywhere else
We all do but given today's Ubi DRM, Steamworks-obsessed world DRM-free "new" games, it just doesn't sound likely.
Just give them some 2 - 3 years.
Edit: But then it wouldn't be called GOG any more ;). Expect something like GNG.

Gog would need a new name if they started selling new games on here.
yes, they would have to make a new subsection or an entirely new site
I don't know about seeling games, but the GOG community likes clubbing baby seals.

Or, given "Good Old&New Games", it should be GONG :-).
Seriously, though, I prefer GOG to be just that: a home for Good Old Games. However, if the same management made a new, sister-site for newer games, I'd be all for that.

Overlord 2 loading screen.
Being evil is so much fun!
DRM free new games on a platform like GOG would be great.
Unfortunately publishers would be too scared for piracy of those games.
After all, it won't just be the 'professional' pirates who don't need to crack a game to share it, GOG buyers can share it too without any problems.
Although I think that if GOG would start selling new games, publishers would be mostly afraid of people sharing the games with friends, not online.
If GOG would want to do such a thing, they should start by or limited themselves to selling indy games.
I think the 'GOG.com formula' works better for indy developers than for the major publishers.
No DRM hassles, extras, sales/discounts, community, etc. but above all worldwide availability and the same pricing for everyone

Or just GG. But RTS players may have doubts about this name ;).
On the conference they said (not directly), that something may come in a distant future. But given the context it may be only limited to CD Projekt's "territory" (Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary). But these are just my speculations - I don't exactly remember that quote.

I agree that publishers like EA, Activision, and Ubi wouldn't sell their new games DRM free. But I think it'd attract a lot of indie devs who already sell their games DRM free.
The whole reason GOG works is because they're selling games that publishers no longer expect to profit from. That's how they get publishers to release them DRM free.
However, indie developers have shown a strong interest in the GOG model and I think that an indie GOG is not completely impossible sometime in the future when they've branched out a bit.
