nmillar: UPDATE: I have contacted support to ask if there is a way of hiding the name of the gifter for the codes that will be sent out this year.
avatar
Andanzas: Why is that? I'd like to say thank you to the person who bought me a present.
Because its Secret Santa :).. that is the whole point of this thread.. not knowing who sent the gift.. you will receive a surprise gift on 25th.. :)

Ian: Helllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nmillar

i not got a list to send some1 a pressie yet please ?
avatar
nmillar: I know. I'm waiting for everyone else to submit their gifts first; that way the 'Special Cases' can fill any gaps that may appear if people drop out at the last minute.
Glad I read the last few posts, as I was wondering the same as Ian :-)

Thanks, and will check back!

Really? Well, in my experience Secret Santa is a secret... until you receive the gifts. I've never seen Santa remain a secret afterwards. And expressing our gratitutude is a huge part of any ritual involving gifts. But if that's the way you like it...

By the way, I signed my message when I sent the gift. I didn't know about this rule. But that should be easy to fix.
If I remember correctly, you can see the name of the gifter when you redeemed the key. So there will not be any secret after you got your present :)
Were gifters kept anonymous last year?

One thing people could do, which may not be ideal, is to create new accounts and buy the games through those. Then just PM nmillar what account you used and game you bought so the info can be consistent.

But that may be too cumbersome, since people have already bought their gifts.

Yes gratitude is a huge part and you can post your thank you message here and I am sure your gifter will be happy to read your grateful thank you post..

I will be posting my thank you here :)

Check out last years thread Secret Santa is never revealed

I removed Duke Nukem 3D from my list since like most I got it free from GOG.

How did you guys decide which game/s to choose from your receivers list?
My goal was to go with the good OLD games, so I disregarded the newer ones when deciding.

How is that "Secret Santa" then? ;P Maybe You're talking about regular Santa, which we all know is the guy with the beard on the sleigh with the reindeer, he's no big secret indeed.

But yeah, obviously the the 'gifter' will know he's the one You're thanking, so there will be plenty of "thanksgiving" at the end in this thread, I'm sure ;)

That's what nmillar's trying to temporarily fix for our little secret needs ;)

I guess the ritual is slightly different, depending on which part of the world you're from. Here, the Secret Santa remains secret throughout and, as mentioned above, is never revealed.

However, having said that, there's no harm in letting the person receiving the gift know that you were their Secret Santa, so you don't have to remain anonymous if you don't want to.

Having said that, if there isn't a way of masking the name of the gifter, then everyone will know who their Secret Santa is anyway. :)

Okay, that makes sense. I guess it's true that it must be different in different parts of the world. Well, I'd rather remain anonymous if that's the way you do it. Thanks for the info.
Re-edited my wishlist.
Removed La-Mulana from my wishlist (it's probably going to be a bonus in the Build-A-Greenlight Bundle). I hope that won't cause any trouble!

Everything else is safe, despite all the "End of the World" promos!
