spinefarm, In that case gog should state "we cannot afford huge sales like steam and we will never be like steam" instead of "big promos are bad for gamers, oh, by the way, we will take steam down in next year".

It's just silly.

Maybe it's because Witcher 2 is made by CDP Red , not by GOG.com ? :P

spinefarm: So what's your point ? I don't have my point of view, cause I'm newer to GOG?

Let me ask you this... are there many supermarkets out there in US besides the big brands?
Let me put it this way: Steam is Wallmart, GOG is a lovely little shop. If you want to put that little shop out buisness you bring your prices down.
The little shop needs to keep with the pricing and with that it loose money ....do I need to continue?

About the steam-sheep I was refering to your classification on your previous post.
I'm not blindly defending anyone. I like GOG as a service and support. I like how TET comes here and joke with us,how most of the stuff members are involved in the forum(community). And I don't see that in Steam ... sorry but this is not blindly ;)
That problem with what you're saying, and where your argument falls apart, is that gog is now in direct competition with Steam. They are attempting to move on from small shop down the road, to KMART vs Walmart in the 90s. They are slowly gaining the same practices as steam, sans great deals of course. So, if they are to compete with steam, naturally they will be compared.

I'm trying to explain these things to you, but you seem to struggle with basic concepts.

I'm kind of flattered that you'd think that I was one of TET's lackeys. I could do (and actually have done, now that I think about it) a lot worse than get a summer job with CDProjeckt or GOG. :)

gameon: I have to point out to people though, that a small company can become a big company if successful. GOG.com has the potential to be a big company, so i would hope it doesn't lose its "small scale" roots. Theres the saying "remember where you come from"
I have a question for all the people spiting at GOG atm... Steam started officialy 2004,so for 8 years out there Steam become a major part of digital distribution market.
So my question is: Steam started the big price drop disscounts from year???

Let us see your answers :)

excalibunny: The perceived lowered worth of a low cost game is a joke to me. My wife is addicted to Plants vs Zombies that we bought on the cheap. Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy is my favorite novel and I rented it for free from the library. I first saw John Carpenters "The Thng" for 99 cents at a local vhs rental place. The perceived worth by price point is a joke. They are selling to a niche market that cares about classics, so they are not going to receive the same level of sales as something like steam. I only worry that they are not trying to go into the direction of something like GG or Steam.
It's not that I don't see your point: Some of my favorite games were purchased for less than the price of a latte at Starbucks. However, I see people who gush about how some game is so phenomenol, groundbreaking, and absolutely incredible... and then they are outraged that it was priced at $9.99 instead of $5.99; or they wishlist it until there is on a real cheap sale. How much do you really value the game if $10 is too much to ask for one of the supposedly greatest games of all time? And if we hadn't grown accustomed to buying games for $5.99 or less, then wouldn't we have jumped at the chance to get that classic at $9.99?

And yet, I don't feel that buying my favorite game of all time for even just $1 detracts from my enjoyment of it when I play it. But there is a weird disconnect that I say I love this game and it changed my life, and I played it for 100 hours, but I wasn't willing to spend more than $5 on it. Something about that is weird.

Yes, you do have less say I'd say. You've put less time in with the company, so you come off as a fan boy who just jumped on the bandwagon.

Yes GOG is in direct competition with Steam as a digital distributor for games,so are GamersGate,GreenManGaming and many others.
You and many others are just whining cause you want pricedrops like on Steam...

What is your point?

Yes, Steam is probably the leader of the digital frontier, which is why it's not a good idea for gog to try to compete with them. Simply put, they can't match the prices.

It's weird because games have been overpriced for years. Dude, a lot of these games are old. You're getting older. You can go to your local walmart and find Pulp Fiction and Terminator 2 on discount for $3 at times. When games get older, the price should drop, just like any form of media. The demand lowers, so should the price. It's not rocket science.

Where are you from? You diction is very bizarre. You come off as a strange person. I don't know the year, but I know that Steam is the leader of digital games, and that's all that matters in my point. Let me also point out that your gabe bashing was unwarranted back there, he seems like a cool guy.

XmXFLUXmX: Idk, why don't you tell us? All I know is, for the past 2 years i've used Steam, i've seen "AAA" titles sell for 75% off during holiday sales and event/company sales. I think my first purchase on Steam was the Quakecon 2010 pack which as I can remember was a pretty awesome deal.
My question was for people having issues with GOG pricing. For me GOG is a better alternative of Steam if they keep bringing good games to us I will be even happier :)

Yes, but what about 3-4 year old games for 20 dollars?

Also, about the emotional disconnect at lowered prices gog fans are arguing about. The same thing has been said about digital media. That with out having something physical from the purchase it matters less to people, because it is less tangible. I think this is also bullshit, but some people make a good argument.
