DreamedArtist: GOG most of the time has better prices
Oh? I'll just quote something from a discussion I had not long ago with another forumite.

"GOG may be great for other countries, but in our case its prices are usually higher.
Just a couple of examples to illustrate this:
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is ₽789 on GOG and ₽299 on Steam.
- Risen 2: Dark Waters Gold Edition is ₽1.189 here while Steam charges ₽599 for both Risen and Risen 2 Gold.

Although, to be fair, all you get from Steam is usually just the game itself, no soundtrack, no wallpapers, no nothing, while GOG's offer is often more generous. "

I buy games from both stores and I kind of know what the prices are.

Goethe: Steam is highly competitive with their prices. Many of their games (from whence I've seen) are actually lower for the asking price.

I love GOG and would do nearly everything to support it, so should this be an issue and addressed?

Steam can be cheaper or more expensive depending on your location. Risen 2: Dark Waters Gold Edition, for example, costs €29.99 for me on Steam, but €23.79 here on GOG.

I understand that. I guess that's what they call YMMV. In fact, that was my intention exactly: to point out that the difference in prices depends not only on the game itself, but on the region as well.
And that can't be stressed enough : support or no support, there is no question. Can't remember which British bloke said that though.

Anyway, my post above was mostly concerning the American prices (since GOG for a long time only had the American prices). In that case, there are games cheaper here and others cheaper on Steam. Some examples:

Tomb Raider 1+2+3 cost $9.99 on GOG, but each of them separately costs $6.99 on Steam. Same case with Tomb Raider 4+5, which cost $9.99 together on GOG, but $6.99 on Steam each. Angel of Darkness, on the other hand, costs $9.99 here, but $6.99 on Steam.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus costs each $2.99 on Steam (or $4.99 both), but $5.99 each on GOG.
Every Retroism game costs $5.99 on GOG, but $6.99 on Steam. In addition, Silent Service 1+2 are sold separately on Steam, each for $6.99.

For the sake of comparison here are some pictures. Keep in mind that GOG has a global sale going on while Steam does not.

OK, as I can't attach more than 5 files and am too lazy to edit them, I'll add that Silent Service games are ₽169 each on Steam but ₽289(1+2 undiscounted) on GOG which makes sense since it's a bundle.

Yes, it depends on the game and the region. But as other people said GOG offers you a lot more stuff than steam does plus the game is DRM-free. I prefer paying a bit more for a game with soundtrack and some goodies, but normally I pay even less here on GOG. On the other hand Steam offers you things like SteamCloud or the achievements but I supose this things will be in the Galaxy client too, so...

The only topic Steam is going in a better way than GOG is linux. They are working harder to support linux, natively, while GOG most of the times uses wine and the can easyly add support for tons of games and they don't (I'm talking about DOS games and SCUMMVM games).

GOG for europeans is actually much better than steam. So I'm happy for my part with the added bonus of DRM free.

As GOG has commented quite a few times on that matter, it's not up to them. If a publisher won't agree on selling a Mac or Linux version, there's nothing that GOG can do about that.

Very nice approach. Thank you. :)
I currently have 282 GOG games. Yes, I do support GOG. :)
GOG for Europeans would be better than Steam for Europeans. It's 1 USD for 1 Euro there, after all.

But for me SEA citizen, GOG is not even a good source for games. Steam has much better regional pricing for us.

Example, for Giana Sisters which is available on Steam and GOG, it is much more expensive on GOG since GOG charges us in USD. On Steam, it's in IDR and has lower retail prices.

I would not say so. My impression is that GOG has slightly lower prices compared to Steam. But then your region and your interests will estimate which prices you have to pay, so we could just live in different regions or buy different games.

And it will be a joy if you ever move to some other country like the US or in Europe and you'll have the privilege of re-buying most of your games because they were bought in a lower priced region. Charming...
