Apologies if this has already been asked: GOG is a great site but so far a bit lacking on the social aspect.
If not adding user profiles, it would be extremely helpful to at least be able to see all the contributions from a specific user. Optionally, to see his favourite games. And so on.
Think of the social benefits: I see a review I like, I go and see what the author has said on other games and so discover them.

Now we are instead left somehow on our own, without exploiting the "power of social" and all the potential the GOG community could have.

There's a lot of curmudgeons around here. I get what you're saying, and I might even use many site-specific features (not using Facebook/Twitter shit, fuck that, see, even I'm a curmudgeon). People complain like hell about the social features already on GOG, though we seem to like avatars, rep (mostly), and private messages as a group, people even complained about signatures while they were enabled.

Well during a "whoops" moment GoG showed they plan to give us signatures (and hopefully a way of stopping them from being shown) so people could use them to tell us about their fav games,

You should check out the GOGWiki, and the GOG irc channel if you want to be more involved. Keep in mind though that the IRC channel can be a little raw at times.

Thanks all for your opinions: maybe the word "social" nowadays have a too strong tie wth "Facebook" and all that club, I didn't mean that ;-)
I mean, someone might be interested in friendships etc a la facebook, but what I meant was using the power of social (maybe "collective" can be a better term...?) wisdom to better explore the world of gaming.

Browsing someone's reviews, if I like one, is a feature I would really love to see. I would not be interested in becoming a friend with the author (the "facebook" aspect, say), in his real name or pictures etc, just iin knowing what his opinions and wisdom are on other games. Implemented: having nicknames clickable, to see the other contributions.

Then, of course from here GOG could decide to go further, add more browsing features, more sharing, more facebook-like gizmos for those who want, and that's a bigger step, maybe not worth given the target here.
But at least the "know other reviews" would be tremendosuly helpful: now, for once, avatar names are not clickable, and we cannot pass from one interesting piece of information to another related one, linked by the author's name.

I think the issue here is that a lot of us like the lack of traceability. For all the websites trying to learn as much as they can about us, it's quite nice that GOG is just there for us to talk about games. Perhaps an opt-in model would be useful, some way to publish your account.

As long as there's a way to opt out of that stuff... I actually like that it's not all linked up; for me, that's a tick in the plus column.

I agree on that. If any 'social' features are enabled on gog, they should definitely be opt-in. I'm fine with gog as it is and I don't want any information about me being 'shared' without my explicit say-so.

I was about to suggest this myself. I think the site itself is exactly as social as it needs to be.
