Big_McLargeHuge: Not saying i agree so DON'T KILL ME LARIAN FANS, but, Divine Divinity is often confused for a Diablo clone on first sight. Though it would be like Diablo but with a story and actual depth.
To me, Divine Divinity is basically the result of a (holy) union between Diablo and Ultima.

Big_McLargeHuge: Nobody replied to me :(.
Possibly because nobody knows? I don't, anyway.
It was apparently ready to go (Swen Vincke blogged about its imminent release and the change in the milestone numbers: The good, the bad and the unexpected), so I assume there was an issue with the release. Check back Monday if nobody answers before then and it hasn't shown up.

Actually, you are correct. The controls and combat in DD and BD are similar to Diablo, except without opponent respawning. There is similar randomly generated loot, but the focus of the game isn't on an endless cycle of killing monsters to get better equipment to kill more monsters.

Far from being a Diablo clone, there is an actual story and good quest design, if not as deep as Baldurs Gate. There are no branching quest lines in the first two games, but there are mutually exclusive quests where you have to choose sides and different ways to solve some quests. Most of the time I was playing I could switch between combat, exploring and questing as I felt, whereas I got bored and never finished Diablo 1 or 2.
The music, dialog, humour and atmosphere is all quite good in DD/BD.

Larian forum topic: How are the first two Divinity games?

There was a contest awhile ago to describe DD; the winning entries and a couple runner ups are here. The winning entry from a similar Russian contest was "the bastard child of Planescape Torment and Diablo".

Awesome, thanks for the links and details. Sounds like it may be worth it to jump on this sale after all.

Raze, do you know when we're getting the LMK demo? Also, do you know if the other videos like "Hatching the Dragon" will actually be downloadable bonuses added to our games, or will they just be YouTube videos?

Well, I went ahead and got myself the anthology and bought three copies of just Divine Divinity to give to friends (after reading that they wanted people to buy that one dirt cheap just to give the series exposure, I decided to go ahead and get a few one cent purchases to show to my friends).

Already gave away one, know who the second is going to, not sure about the third though... Maybe I'll just give it away in that topic...

No, I don't know when the LMK demo will be available, but if it doesn't show up by tomorrow night (Monday morning in Belgium) I will check on that. I was looking forward to it, myself.

I just assumed the videos were intended to be on Youtube for the extra exposure, so the upcoming ones would be there, as well. There are programs / sites / browser plugins to download Youtube videos; I don't know how much desire there would be for higher quality versions, or something, as specific bonus content at GOG. I can run that up the flag pole and see if anyone salutes...

Thanks, and I hope you and your friends enjoy the games.

Hey, you helped bring the average down $0.02 (compared to when I checked earlier today).
I am currently trying to decide whether I should go for this deal or not. I have a load of games to play as is and I frankly have never heard of the series before, hence why I am now looking through video reviews. Divinity 2 is definitely catching my eye, and I can play the first two games on a laptop whenever I am away from my desktop I suppose. I am currently reading through this thread, but it may take a while. Any words of encouragement?

Endzville: Well, you can buy it for as little as a cent but if you'd rather it for free for whatever reason then here's my key of Divine Divinity: XJLU-PYD2-YENF-KE39
I snagged it. Thanks!

Thanks for the answers Raze. I just assumed that the Hatching the Dragon video would count as a Making Of video and be including with the games like other games on the site with their own Making Of videos.

It's one of the best RPGs I've ever played, and I've played many. It's around100 hours to complete, if you do all the missions, the storyline is awesome and the controls are EASY.

Easily better than any of the Diablo games, and seems to have a pretty huge cult following. It's one of the best games I've bought on GOG.
Paid $20. Seems like a steal, there are top selling retail games which are not as good, yet sell for a higher price tag...

Boy that price went down after the first day.

mondo84: Boy that price went down after the first day.
The start of the promotion had more fans of the Divinity games participating than expected (who wanted D2:DC), and it took awhile for enough people getting just DD for $0.01 to bring the prices down.

The good, the bad and the unexpected

I concur; I´ve played only D2:Dragon Knight Saga and it is one the best nowadays RPGs, plus:
- I was surprised that Gamebryo Engine might look so good
- game is highly polished (just like EE of both Witchers)
- I´ve bought it here, when it was still 20 (for all 3 games), for this price it´s a steal.
