Is it possible to tie gift codes to specific user accounts? So they cannot be traded?
For purpose of deterring scammers.

i don't like the idea of limiting giveaway participation based on join dates. And especially don't want to limit them based on forum rep! This whole giveaway thing here on GOG, has impacted me in notable ways. i dig it much! The giving now, the getting back then. Was so cool to win my first few games when i had not the money to buy them. i wish to welcome in the new folks, to share in that joy. Is not cool that so many giveaways now exclude our new friends. But the gifters wish not to be scammed. Nor do i.

Additionally, some folks just want to share a specific game they love. They'd wish not for people to trade it, but rather to try it. Perhaps the gifters have a choice, to tie code to a user account, or allow it to be traded?

So hows about allowing us an option to gift directly to user accounts?
So codes cannot be traded once given.

As an option, maybe.

Having gift codes instead of direct gifting has many advantages.
Yep, an option for sure. Option to gift to user account, or gift the current way with a trade-able code.

Indeed, it could be implemented in a way that, when you select the gift option, you can either choose to send it to an e-mail address or fill in the username of a certain GOG user.
Would be nice to not have to know folks email addys. Some wouldn't like this. i grok. Is better if gifter 'tells' GOG which game to add to a users account. Then GOG takes it from there.

You know, you may enter your email address and then just PM him the code.

Someone would have to know someone elses email wouldn't they? This opens the door to new scam. Is why so many folks were so happy to see the PM feature added to GOG.

Or am i missing something?

Yes, you are :P

So, you can send the gift to your e-mail address, you get the gift code, and then you may post that code via PM, without a need to get somebody else's e-mail address.

Or you may just simply send the gift to somebody's email address, but even then, that person would have to redeem the code.

So, there's no need to request providing email address from anybody.

Oh yeah, same as it's ever been. Would just be that gifter might be able to designate the code as non-transferable. Otay :)

Is how i been gifting games... buy em, get the code in my email, then PM this code to recipients. Just need an option to declare the gift as "non-transferable". Would work the same way as we are accustomed to.
