Crosmando: Interesting bit of information:
Silent Hill Homecoming was so westernized it never even got released in Japan, despite being published by a Japanese company.
You know, I like this post.
It's relevant, but doesn't assume too much.
Short and sweet.
I'd like to thank you, personally, for your contribution. I apologize for not simply writing you a message, but I feel like an example could be made out of your post.
F4LL0UT: Dude, I didn't just repeat a fact you mentioned, I explained why this fact contradicts your whole "samurai code of honor" theory there.
Except you didn't. I clearly stated that in the last few years, Japanese game developers have been far more willing to release their older games. I even praised Capcom for finally re-releasing MVC2. I made mention of the recent release of Darkstalkers (a PS1 fighting game) to PSN.
How, indeedidily-doodily-posterino, could you have missed that? How, in all of this stuff posted on the screen in front of your human eyes, did you miss the part where I said:
Weclock: It seems lately however, a lot of companies are opening up to the western ideas of "just keep selling until nobody buys, and then talk about releasing a sequel so they'll continue buying and then do the same thing to the sequel."
And just focus on my original explanation of Japanese culture?
You know, I didn't want to pull this card, because there's not much I can do to verify, but I used to be an Otaku. I watched anime ALL the time. I remember days watching episodes of television shows that had only been fansubbed hours before, and as such, I got tired of reading shoddy translations, and there were works that hadn't been translated that I wanted to see, so in College (or Uni, if you prefer), I studied the Japanese language and their culture.
I got enough exposure to their culture to realize that it's a society I don't agree with, and have lost a great deal of interest in anime since then, every now and then I can freak out my friends who simply don't know that I've studied Japanese and give them interesting tidbits or speak to them in the language.
Anyway, I know how your typical Japanese pride works, and this (to me) is the most likely assumption one could make, but again, like I said, it seems like they're finally getting around to realizing that some people want the same bullshit over and over again without any tweaking.
