What one wrongly perceived letter can do! :P

But to topic: Yes, GoG should get more so-called AAA titles on release day. If devs are so afraid of DRM, they should be well aware that every DRM can be cracked. In the end it causes them trouble without any gain. Or do they think people suddenly buy games just because they can't pirate them?

I think people are more inclined to buy games if they come without malware that potentially can break your PC. Although with the non-malevolent DRM systems like Steam it is hard for people now to justify DRM-free releases, it seems. :-(

How about this? No internet means that (at some point) you can't access your games!

I honestly wouldn't be against it, but there's only a select few games from this generation (that would be considered AAA) that I would want here (that actually are on PC). Would these count?

-Sleeping Dogs
-Deus Ex: Human Revolution
-Fallout: New Vegas
-Anno Series (especially 2070)

I reckon it'd be good if Gog could get the Railroad Tycoon series on here. It is a classic, and Gog would ensure it'd work with modern systems. Not to mention for some reason it's not available where I live on Steam.

While I can't help you with Railroad Tycoon 2+3, 2K Games has made the first one available for free for many years.

Keep in mind that it might require some tweaking though.

I think that is actually what they think. It's maybe not true that every DRM can be cracked and even if you can still get persecuted for illegally downloading something. The laws are clearly there although they aren't enforced very effectively. I'm not sure if DRM really pays off, but I'm sure that the publishers strongly believe in it.

Maybe they are just idiots or maybe they are sadists or maybe they just don't want to give in to anything that would make gamers happy.

Even two year old AAAs are not available DRM free. And they probably have sold 95% of what they can sell, so making them DRM free would be a manageable risk if any. My only conclusion is that they must be morons. But still I won't pirate.

Agreed on that last two points. No reason to assume ANY kind of rationality on the part of ANY business entity unless and until the opposite is proven.

Even streaming DRM is cracked (although it takes years each time, for example for MMORPGs). It's not a matter of "if", but rather of "when" and "how". I think for offline titles, there never can be a full protection. For online titles, the same goes but - as the MMO example proves - it can be made much harder.

Video streams would be pretty safe, I think, but they are not classical DRM, rather a different distribution model.

For classical DRM, an encrypted partial stream (of the EXE and some other files maybe) would require people to manipulate the RAM.
